“We stopped for a cold cerveja, the place having attracted us with the view of the bridge... We finally decided to come back for dinner and it was the best decision of the day. Just one word, a real treat both for the eyes and for our stomachs ??? We recommend ++++ Tavira, our little favorite at the start of our stay and a big thank you to the entire BORDA D'AGUA team.“

“One of the best meals I’ve ever had! This place had been highly recommended to me so expectations were high but it definitely lived up to it! The steak was sooo good plus the sauces and sides were perfection ?Just book it, you won’t be disappointed! The staff are super friendly too and make you feel so welcome. Brilliant value for money too.“

“Oh Mom, what a spectacular dinner.
Absolutely impeccable, from the fresh and strong mojito sangria to the delicious tuna and shrimp taco starters.
Main course, pork cheeks, a dish that every Portuguese person has eaten a number of times, but which they managed to reinvent, and the green apple puree, cider foam, how wonderful.
To finish, chocolate mousse with honeycomb, salt and olive oil (yes, olive oil and it's brutal) and another grilled and buttered pineapple, with vanilla ice cream and cardamom biscuits.
A new favorite in Tavira, definitely worth repeating.“

“My friend's parents had a good meal here in March and recommended the restaurant, which is in the second row not far from the promenade.
We had a great evening! The starter was mackerel. For the main course we had grilled tuna and spaghetti with prawns. I especially have to praise the tuna, which I've never had so good! The service was also very friendly and accommodating!
One of the best restaurants we visited in Tavira“

“Servings in generous quantities, highlighting the clams, beef bitoque, Alentejo-style meat and Brás-style cod. We come back every year because of the friendliness of the owners, who make my son happy and accompany the dishes he chooses with the wonderful mushroom sauce! Recommended!“

“We know that in Portugal they are masters at preparing cod but for those of us who don't like fish the offer is greatly reduced but at the Pitanga restaurant they have a good offer of both fish and meat and the meats are delicious. I recommend the Vazia which sounds bad but it is sirloin and it is ?“

“My family and I chose this restaurant for its offering of the true flavors of Portuguese cuisine and we really weren't disappointed until dessert time.
The dessert chosen by my husband and I was a lemon meringue tart...existing lemon, meringue from poorly cooked egg whites that left us with a gastrointestinal problem for 3 days.
We notified the restaurant and were told it was impossible as they had not received any other complaints.
Very disappointed ...
It's a real shame because a lot of their menu is very good.“

“This is a really great spot for anyone looking for vegan options in Tavira. The staff were so kind and the food was fresh and delightful. We had the burger and the falafel & salad. Both were awesome and had really thoughtful flavours. Do not miss the desserts though - the fig ice cream was 10/10!“

“The brunch I tried today was, without a doubt, the best I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Every detail, from the impeccable presentation of the dishes to the harmony of flavors, reflected special care in preparation. The variety of options, which ranged from well-executed classics to innovative creations, surprised me with every bite. Congratulations to everyone involved for providing a gastronomic experience that exceeded all expectations!“

“Portuguese restaurant with high standards and an eye for detail! Tastefully decorated and even the toilet here is great! Service is very good and the food is absolutely great! It's just a shame that there are cars in front of the terrace, which makes it a bit less pleasant. Must visit!“

“In one word: fabulous!
After staying 10 days in Tavira, this is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant! We went back twice during our stay ?
Very warm welcome, tasty and traditional dishes, green surroundings in the pretty garden located at the back of the restaurant.
I recommend the mixed salad with figs as well as the hamburger (without bread).
You can go there with your eyes closed ?
However, be careful to withdraw beforehand because credit card is not accepted!“

Every dish we tried was simply delicious.
The flavors were perfectly balanced and the presentation of the dishes was to die for.
The service was also impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff.
It is a true culinary gem that deserves to be discovered.
A perfect welcome and service ????
I will come back without hesitation!”“

“Vegetarian options: Bit limited but ok . Tomato and Pesto and Mozzarella salad really good. Fries are excellent, not soggy plus spaghetti with pesto, pine nuts and parmesan very tasty. Huge choice of teas and coffee from their own roaster. Tried a Bombom which was coffee with condensed milk.... delicious but only room for one. Staff speak very good English and are very attentive. We have visited 3 times.“

“Restaurant on a street near the promenade frequented by locals. Very friendly staff. Very good value for money. Very good house white wine. We had octopus salad and shrimp salad for dinner, delicious. You can order half portions. The tomato salad is also very delicious. They do not accept card payment.“

“It is a simple restaurant, frequented by local people, not tourists, with several dishes of the day that are delicious and excellent service from the staff. We also loved the desserts and they also prepare takeaway food.
Vegetarian options: The day we went there were vegetarian options among the dishes to choose from.
Kid-friendliness: The children were very well treated.“

“Another surprising restaurant in the Algarve! We didn’t expect much but were pleasantly impressed. Our waiter was extremely pleasant and we had fun joking with him. The raw oysters were the best we’ve had in Portugal accompanied by a nice inexpensive white wine. Our Portuguese style tuna was a welcome change from the regular seared tuna and much appreciated. Finished off with cheesecake and a local delicacy, a carob, fig and almond tart… superb! One of our best lunches in the Algarve!“

“An excellent choice, we ate fresh fish, unbeatable cod, and the desserts were homemade and very good.
Friendly and kind waiter from the first moment, we went without a reservation and we were 12 people and he treated us very well. 100% recommended and if we return it is a safe visit.“

“Very good genre and good service, the desire for the seafood platter was good but it gave the sensation of being frozen. The rest of the things are fine.
The clams, made like the rest of the Algarve.
We ate 4 well with a seafood platter for two and some clams.
With few views of the sea since it has a parking lot and the port, but there is little traffic so it is comfortable.“

“A MUST WHEN VISITING TAVIRA.
Came here after my parents recommendation and was not disappointed. Situated only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of town, we came back again as the food was to die for.
First night we had the gambas, fried fish with tomato rice, stewed pork rib (special) and the tuna salad. Absolutely stunning. Make sure to dash the tuna salad with Olive Oil and vinegar. Really brings out the flavours.
Second time we had the special sword fish cooked in parsley and garlic butter (special) and the duck rice. Both stunning meals.
They have managed to capture the locals hearts and it’s never not busy. Can’t thank the team enough for such a lovely part to our holiday!
Dietary restrictions: Was really easy to suggest meal for my partners allergies.“

“Very good place on a tourist street. Although it is on the typical bar street, it is a small place with several tables on the street.
The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was very delicious. We ordered clams, garlic shrimp (not in the photo), grilled octopus and frango grelado (grilled chicken) for the little one.
A bottle of white wine, a juice and an ice cream and we paid €89
It would just remove the singer from the bar next door, but it was part of the show.
It is worth having dinner here, other tables ordered the cod and seafood cataplana which looked very good.“

“TOP restaurant, we ate very well, very friendly and attentive waiters.
We tried the tuna tartare, the oysters, the walnut and spinach cheese puff pastry, the octopus with sweet potato, the gyozas and the fried anchovies, and everything was spectacular!! I would highlight the puff pastry, the octopus and the gyozas
We drank wine and for dessert they gave us some shots of chocolate and coffee (which they offered us and charged us for, thinking they were inviting us), and it came out to €126 in total (4 people), very good value for money, yes, you have You have to order more tapas than the number of diners to leave well-dinned
I recommend booking, it's always full“

“Stayed very close by so it was our 'local' for a while. Friendly staff and customers. Great place to sit, relax and watch life go by even though it's not in the more touristy areas. We did those places too..but felt more at home here. Good background music. Didn't eat here but the menu looked good and cheap too. Will return next time we visit.“
“Nice cocktail bar with a small but varied menu. We were there several times and were very satisfied with both the food and the service. Absolute recommendation for the Dom burger, which we found to be the best by far! The service staff change, but with one exception we were very satisfied and always felt very comfortable. The roundabout doesn't bother you and is suppressed quite well by the lounge music and the sound walls. Highly recommended!“

“I arrived at this place by taking a look at Google map, avoiding the tourist area of Tavira. The place is quite nice, away from the beach area. The short menu, as is the norm in Portugal. They have a charcoal grill where meats predominate over fish. The dishes are very well prepared. We ordered a starter and two mains and the waitress told us it was too much. And we listened to him. The Algarve tuna, magnificent. The dishes are very abundant. To put it a but, a little slow in putting out the food. Medium-Low wrecks.“

“Authentiek Portugees familierestaurant waar ook koppels jong en iets ouder graag komen eten...zeer eenvoudige inrichting, geen echt uitgebreide kaart, maar wel volwaardige borden...geen tapas porties om te delen. Zijn er op iets meer dan 1 week 2x gaan eten, zegt genoeg....“

“We stopped in at the Old Barrel for drinks and a rest while exploring Cabanas. The staff were friendly and patient with our limited Portuguese and, in fact, spoke very good English when our Portuguese ran out (too quickly). They had a tennis match playing on a large screen TV and several others were watching.
Good beverages, pleasant surroundings, and gracious hosts - a very good experience.“

“Other one of those places that take you back in time and where they work and give a good product output like in few other places.
They have the grill in the front window of the facade (something curious) and from your table you can see how your pork cutlets are cooked on the embers without stopping salivating ?
We also tried the cod and a salad more complete than a beachfront in August.
With 4 beers, 1 water and 4 Beiraos we paid 25 eur per drink.
Good option in Tavira.“

“A stones throw away from the middle of Tavira, this seems to be a favourite of locals for both meals and drinks. I was very impressed by the food choices ( check specials on wall as well as standard menu) and the price of the carafes of wine. Very popular, get there early or be prepared to wait.“
“We come here every year to drink wine in the afternoon or evening. The two innkeepers are incredibly nice and friendly. There are 2 “special” dishes that change every day and are highly recommended.
Parking: There are a few parking spaces available, but they are mostly occupied by residents
Wheelchair accessibility: A ramp for wheelchair users is available. It also helps a lot when driving up.“

“I'm glad I listened to the reviews. What a great success!
Super recommended. Kindness of service, exquisite food. Super good quantity and unbeatable quality price!!
We chose fish soup (very good), rice with octopus, grilled cod and stewed meat, everything was incredible, very delicious, you can tell that it is traditional and homemade food!“

“I give the maximum rating because the food is good for a price that is still Portuguese, which means that here we do not take advantage of the tourist situation to display prices that we find in France! The dish of the day (copious and good), the glass of wine (20 cl, not 10!) plus the coffee for €9, that deserves 5 stars in terms of quality/price.“

“I wasn't very sure, in the area it seems that it is to get money from tourists, but the reviews were good.
And it was true, we ate very well and at a good price. The portions are huge and although they are Pakistani, they nail the Portuguese recipes very well. All very good.
We ordered some oysters, octopus in tempura which was very tender, cod also very good and a very generous portion and what we liked the most is an octopus that they make like golden cod, delicious.
All at a very correct price.“

“My husband was looking for a place to draw the old bridge while having a coffee and a light bite . This place was perfect . We had had a large breakfast at the place we were staying so only wanted something small and we ended up having a couple of coffees and the couvert . The bread came with oil and vinegar , olives , a lovely homemade tuna pate and a pickled carrot dish . It was just what we wanted . The staff were very helpful and we really enjoyed sitting here enjoying a lite bite and the views. We hope to come back to Tavira and when we do I look forward to having a proper meal next time“

“The most relevant thing is that it took them an hour to serve us the food... Even though they are very friendly.
We had simple bruschetta, tabla mista and tuna salad (abundant). Fine without further ado.

“Very nice little bar where we had breakfast two mornings. The boss is very friendly and made the effort to understand us! Here everyone knows each other, it’s a café of regulars who come to have their coffee and chat a little before going about their business! We loved the atmosphere.“

“Wanted a typical Portuguese meal in place more frequented by the locals rather than tourists. This was the place. Terrific food topped off by a nice glass of an Algarve red house wine. Staff were great to meet and offered some nice local places to visit. Loved these guys and their restaurant.“

“Great restaurant experience! The staff was fantastic and nice to us. We started with bean clams and dry tuna, and they were great! Then, we asked for lime & mushroom risotto, and gambas risotto. The risottos were great, but I prefer parmesan cheese on top. To finish, we ordered a typical dessert from Algarve: carob, figs, and almond tart (in the menu, they called it Algarvian mix). The wine from Algarve was good (Reserva White - Monte da Ria) ?“

“Privileged location with good appearance.
In August it is difficult due to the movement and too many people.
The service is always at a loss.
Still, we ate at 4pm with fewer people and we were well treated and the food was of good quality with nothing negative to point out.
I'm sure that in June, July, the end of August or September (in short... outside the high season) it can only be better.“

“Amazing lunch: the anchovy bruschetta was incredible - a little oregano, lemon and olive oil. So fresh. And the shrimp with garlic - so double incredible - garlic, butter, paprika and lemon - so tasty. And the service was so attentive. A little Super Bock to go with it and it is a perfect afternoon in Tavira. So good.“
“This is a perfect spot for people watching with a lovely drink ! We only went in the evening time for a beer and a cocktail but wish we had been for brunch or a cake ! “A Mesa is one of those places where the bib gourmand label fits very well. Unpretentious, affordable, very good food, a really nice find. We picked a few a la carte dishes, all very attractively presented and with well-structured flavor- and texture profiles. Service was very attentive, and overall the place is still relaxed enough that one can either dress up or go in shorts and T-Shirt.“
