Ar de Rio offers stunning views of the river and a great atmosphere. Located in Ribeira de Vila Nova de Gaia on the riverbank, it provides a privileged view over the Douro. The restaurant has both inside and terrace seating, with the terrace offering a quiet setting with a perfect view of the Ribeira and the Dom Luis bridge. Inside, it can be very hot in summer, feeling like a greenhouse, while the terrace is cooler. However, on very hot days, requests to open the shade were often refused, leading some to leave and find another place. The food is good, with dishes like grilled sea bass and Lima Tarta being highly recommended. The restaurant offers a large selection of local wines, with staff providing excellent advice, all at reasonable prices. Portions are satisfying and well served, making it a good value overall. Friendly and attentive staff deliver reasonable service, and parking nearby is convenient. Sharing desserts is suggested, and the overall experience makes it a great spot to enjoy the view and good food.
