La Forneria offers tons a lot of vegan options - by far the most out of any restaurant in Vila Real. Besides that, they also have typical Portuguese dishes (vegan version), like the francesinha.

La Forneria is an excellent place to enjoy French cuisine in the city center of Vila Real. The atmosphere is great, and it's interesting to see the chefs preparing the food. The staff is friendly and dedicated, and the prices are reasonable for quality products. They offer vegetarian options like the Vegetarian Francesinha, and now also have a variety of vegan options—by far the most in Vila Real. The pasta is delicious, and the ice cream is top-notch, although the affogatto was missing amaretti biscuits. The chef's francesinha (piquante) is highly recommended, and the francesina lá putanesca also did not disappoint. The restaurant also serves typical Portuguese dishes in vegan versions, making it a good choice for those seeking variety. Despite some minor mix-ups, such as confusion over stuffed pizza dough called calzone instead of bruschetta, the overall experience is very positive. For anyone wanting a good francesinha without traveling to Porto, La Forneria remains a top option.
