Beautiful steamie and poutine with very dark gravy was served to me in a very reasonable amount of time. Service was fine. No idea how old this place is but it's definitely old. “Found this place after moving in the neighborhood and I come here from time to time.Just taking a table next to the window makes me feel on those typical tv shows where you have your local dining with a very friendly environment.It is remarkable how all the staff makes everybody feel welcome as family, some people arriving are acquaintances, some others just usual customers. You see them greeting people by name and even hugs for old friendships, which gives me a total warmth feeling as if I was just at home having breakfast.This has already become my favorite place to have a comfy breakfast while reading at my table and feeling “at home”.“

“While we've been staying in Montreal, we have gotten food from this place several times. First off, this place has a vintage cozy interior with booths that look out onto the busy street. Second, the staff here is friendly, quick, and very organized. Lastly, the food is authentic and well prepared. Our favorite thing here is an all dressed steamy and the classic poutine. “Wow. Went for lunch here with my Boss. I always order a steamed hotdog from all the places I visit to see how the basics are. I can say that yes their hotdog is well worth the 2 dollars they sell for. The poutine I ordered was the du Chef. It was delicious. I can't wait for my next visit to try the other poutines. I recommend if you are near by or within 20 minutes away from here, it is well worth the trip. Be aware of their business hours though.“

“It was pretty decent, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. I am looking for a thick, crispy fry, and something different with the gravy, not sure what exactly. Maybe a richer flavor and thicker texture?

I wouldn't be disappointed if I was served this poutine again, but I will continue to try other places instead.“

“Poutine - really good. perfect on the curds and gravy (has a bit of kick which I liked) but fries are bigger than what I would like. Much better than what I’ve had so def recommend.
Steamies were disappointing - dogs were small and toppings lacked flavour.
Lacks atmosphere - very bland and not clean. Quick in and out.“

“I stop here a lot and love the food. Sure, there are a lot of Belle Province Restaurants in Quebec, but will they make you a smoked meat poutine for breakfast? Probably not. These guys are the best group of people ever. Try the Sous Marin Speciale. Smoked meat poutine. Or ever steamed hot dogs my toppings of choice are mustard and onion with cayenne pepper. Washed down with a glass bottle of coke. The glass bottle just makes it that much better.“

“Lafleur is the perfect spot to catch a quick filling traditional canteen style meal. The fries are made in front of your eyes and the food is usually pretty quick. The service isn't the main focus of the management, but the food speaks for itself. If you really want a local feel with characters of all sorts, stop in! I am a huge fan of their grilled hotdogs, and a classic poutine!“

“For over 75 years Royal Sous-marin has been serving up Greek and Quebecois fast food and full meal favourites while maintaining quality and value — even in today’s difficult market conditions.

Unlike some of these type of old-school diners the service and cleanliness here are exemplary.

I had wanted to try this cool spot for a while, so finally went for a late lunch and had a chicken souvlaki pita with fries and a Pepsi (as a trio).

It was freshly made and perfectly cooked. With ample chicken on a thicker whole wheatish pita that was a unique highlight of the meal. The tzatziki was smooth and a bit savoury which worked with the pure flat top grilled chicken pieces. Plenty of fries with no skimping on the mayo on the side and a basket of ketchup packets on every table. Such a handy and equally smart touch.

Shout out to Steve and Katrina who were quite friendly and made me feel welcome.

Also to mention they now have an online ordering platform that comes with 10% off plus their own delivery person and also Uber Eats is available.
