We had a wonderful time at the restaurant! Excellent on every level! We had given our 2 guests a Christmas gift certificate and so this was their first time at L’Oree du Bois and they loved it!

A truly fabulous dinner from start to finish!! It’s a perfect place to celebrate or pamper yourself with the best experience ever. The restaurant was cozy and welcoming with attentive and friendly staff. The food was excellent from our warm buns, appetizers, to the main course and dessert. I was also thoroughly impressed with how easily they accommodated my food allergies. It was a perfect night!!!

I’ve heard this is an amazing restaurant so I thought I’d give it a try. My daughter had the vegetarian option which was a squash pasta and it was bursting with so many flavors. I had the beef tenderloin and it was outstanding. I could cut it with a fork. The service was incredible. The staff worked well together as a team. They were all very pleasant and professional. The food was served hot and we couldn’t have asked for any better service. You won’t be disappointed.

For anyone second guessing this place—don’t! The food is phenomenal, and you’ll be so glad you came. My husband and I aren’t huge fans of French cuisine and we were blown away. The food was absolutely delicious! The service was incredible and everyone was very kind. Everything was delicious from the bread, to our cocktails and our mains. I got the duck confit, and my husband got the fillet mignon. Both were fantastic and oh so tender. Will definitely be visiting again the next time we’re in Chelsea!

I went there for my friend's birthday celebration. Been surprised with atmosphere, had feeling like I'm in chateau somewhere in mountains. About food, as we were group of 16 people for us was presented very limited menu of 1 soup, 3 starters, 3 main course 2 deserts. Main course Duck confit was very delicious. Starters could be better, but I choose from what was offered - pork with peppercorn terrine - it was not bad. Soup was fine. Dessert White chocolate moose was pretty not bad, but I've tried Creme Brulee from my friend, and it was not good. Strong side is definitely service, very appreciate servers efforts. Overall not bad experience, but they should offer more options to choose, specially with price range they have!

Had an good experience at this restaurant. The food and drinks were fantastic. We did the table d’hôte for $84. This included 4 courses (Soup, Appetizer, Main and Dessert). Everything was great. Restaurant has nice atmosphere. Only negative thing to say, was the service was slow considering the restaurant was not very busy. Our waiter would disappear for long periods of time.

Restaurantji Recommends
The food here is truly some of the best in the entire Ottawa–Gatineau region. We’ve been recommending this restaurant to friends and family for years because the cuisine and service are usually outstanding.
Unfortunately, our most recent visit was quite disappointing. I had called ahead to let the kitchen know that my boyfriend has a severe deadly tree nut allergy, but our appetizer arrived with bread that appeared to contain nuts. When I asked our waitress about it, she wasn’t sure and had to check with the kitchen. It took nearly 30 minutes for the replacement bread to arrive, during which time we were also still waiting for our bottle of wine.
The same issue happened again with dessert, it seemed to contain nuts, and the waitress had to confirm with the kitchen once more. On top of that, birthdays are usually acknowledged with a small plate of beautifully presented chocolates, but despite having mentioned the birthday in advance, that special touch was completely missed this time.
While the restaurant kindly removed the Prosecco from our bill to apologize for the delays, the overall experience did not meet the high standards we’ve come to expect, especially for a $300 meal. I rarely write negative reviews, but this visit left us very disappointed. Sadly, I’m not sure we’ll be able to recommend this place as we once did.
This is usually a place where you can dress up and enjoy an intimate dinner, but this time we were surrounded by two loud groups, some dressed in joggers. While this isn’t entirely the restaurant’s fault, it does feel as though the atmosphere is shifting from fine dining toward something more casual, which is unfortunate, because their chefs are truly among the best of the best.

At a table of four food lovers, we were all amazed. Each of us ordered different dishes, and the flavour and care taken in each one were supreme; the ingredients were fresh and high quality, the wine menu is well curated, and qualified friendly service.
