An experience in itself. Very small restaurant, especially out of season (no terrace). The food is excellent, the employees very friendly. The menu is, however, limited.

Although we were the only one at the restaurant, the food was served cold… very disappointing for a 25$ plate of breakfast… felt like I had to hurry to eat my plate.

I had a disappointing experience at this establishment. Despite available seating, we were told to wait for 30 minutes. Our server did not take our order and frequently attended to other tables, leaving us feeling overlooked and unwelcome. We were also instructed to order at the checkout counter while others were seated and served, demonstrating their prejudicial behavior. Additionally, the food we received was cold and stale.
I believe these practices warrant attention and should be reported. It was simply not worth the time and money.

I believe these practices are worth noting. It just wasn't worth it in terms of time or money.

Went here today to have brunch and I called ahead of time in the parking lot to make sure they had seating. I was then told on the phone that it would be 5 mins for our table. This all sounded great until we got inside and had to wait another 5-10 mins to be seated. It was very under staffed and crammed upstairs, the 4 of us were seated in a corner with two other tables very close to us (we could not get up to even use the washroom). We than waited 25 mins without drinks or any acknowledgement from the waiter. My mom than when downstairs to use the washroom and had to ask the waitress to be seated downstairs, because we were in a bit of a time crunch and no one came to serve us. We were than seated downstairs and given coffees. We had to wait another 45 mins for our food and no one came to ask if we needed more water or coffee. Others in the restaurant were also getting tired of waiting and some even left after being seated. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, my bread was burnt and i barely had any tomato on it. it was very bland and had little to no flavour. My home fries were good but my moms and boyfriends weren’t even cooked all the way through. We stayed and ate it because we were all starving at this point and my mom had a long journey home from visiting me for my birthday. My mom asked for compensation and at first they were only going to give 10% off when our waitress asked the manager. We heard them make a comment saying “well they still ate the food”. My mom than asked to speak to the manager(who we over heard was late for his shift) personally and she asked for better compensation, because we’ve never had this bad of service before. The manager ended up giving us 25% off but it was still a 90$ meal. Would not eat here again, not worth the time or money. They need better organization.

We called to ensure the restaurant had a table for 4 for us before deciding to dine here. They told us yes, 5 mins. As we arrived we waited another 5 or so mins at the door until being seated. We finally got seated upstairs at a table in the corner of the room. It was extremely tight seating. We were there waiting about 10 mins with some water when another family was seated (blocking us in so we couldn't move without asking 3 people to move. (Huge safety/fire hazzard!)
I had to use the restroom but I was waiting for someone to come and take our order first as we were in a bit of a time crunch, however the waiter took the other tables order that had just arrived instead. Not even acknowledging our table, he went back downstairs and I said I'd give it another 10 mins before I bothered everyone to move so I could use the restroom and see what was going on. 10 mins went by with no sign of any service...our water was finished at this point. I excused myself and went downstairs to talk to the waitress and told her what was happening. At that time I could see there were empty tables on the main floor and asked that my party be moved down for comfortability and ease of service. We moved downstairs and they finally got us coffee and took our order. I was thinking in this moment phew shouldn't be long now. Boy was I ever wrong. We waited another 45 mins to get our food, in the meantime we could see people around us becoming agitated as well and saw that the family who came in after us had already eaten and left. We overheard that the "manager" came in late to work, they "ran out" of potatoes, and the guys that were working were all just standing around in the kitchen while the poor waitress was the only one working her bum off. We weren't asked if we wanted refills on our coffee. Our food finally came, though it was mediocre at best. *some of my potatoes weren't cooked and there was barely anything on my daughters breakfast sandwich, cold bacon* We ate our meals as at this point we were all starving, but after an hour and a half, and having our last day here plans ruined, I thought it would be hospitable to have a discount on our meal. I kindly and respectfully asked the waitress for a discount on our meal for all the trouble. She came back out from speaking to the manager and offered us $15 off, which didn't even cover 1 meal. I asked at this point to speak to the manager. I told him about our visit and he asked what he could do to bring us back again. I told him that I would appreciate a bit more off the bill as he wasted our day. He offered us 25% off and I accepted as I was now running very late. Needless to say, we will never go back and people shouldn't waste their time. $90 meal and a wasted trip to the cute lil town.

Very nice, quiet place with a cosey feeling to its appearance. I went here with a friend after we'd been hiking early in a Sunday morning on a trail nearby and was looking for a nice sit down breakfast.
Their menu is small but the prices are good and more importantly, the food we had was fantastic! We both got The Big Breakfast and both ate pretty much everything on our plates, which was quite a lot. It was similar to a full English breakfast.
We also ordered the Crepe's meal to split between us, which was also very tasty! I'm not usually a fan of mixed berries but the way they had prepared these in the crepes alongside the two scoops of dark chocolate mousse was excellent.
Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Service can be slow (they seem to be understaffed) and they added sweetener to my latté when I did not ask for it. Wouldn’t recommend.

Very good place for breakfast or brunch. All dishes have something more than just the basics. Great flavours and options.

The servers were SUPER lovely and the place was adorable with a beautiful garden. The food had potential but was unfortunately the weak link. Our main dishes were mediocre, especially disappointing considering the prices. The smoothies were quite tasty but at nearly $10 for a small portion, it did not feel worth it. If the food had a little more spirit, I could’ve been more flexible about the prices considering the other elements were lovely.

Went to TONQIUE for brunch with 3 friends.
The service was a little slow but they made up for it with how well they knew the menu and how to accommodate for my gluten and dairy allergies. I was able to get soy milk for my latte and gluten free bread for my breakfast plate. The home fries are seasoned well and taste so good.
My friend got the French toast and said it was a good balance of sweet and savoury with the berries. The avocado toast was also a hit. We’d all definitely come back and recommend to others !

Beautiful, cozy spot right across the street from the Gatineau Park visitor centre. Food was delicious, staff was friendly. Patio seating felt more like sitting in the comfort of your own backyard than a stuffy restaurant. Will be back again soon!
