Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar

My family and I recently ate at Baton Rouge DDO on a Saturday night and we had a good experience overall, however, there are some areas that need improvement.

The positive:

Our large group was accommodated at a big table and there was excellent communication regarding when our table would be available.

Our waiter Dallas had a positive attitude and finished the service strong despite a few hiccups along the way as he was taking our orders for drinks and food.

The quality of food was very good. My rib steak and fully loaded baked potatoes were on point. Vegetables were OK but are an afterthought at a steak house IMO ?. The calamari entrée was excellent.

My smoked old fashioned and Heineken pint were very good.

The not so good areas that need improvement:

It took a very long time for us to get our first drink order taken and we were not offered water.

It took 30+ minutes for us to receive our drinks after reminding the staff. This is unacceptable.

One of our beers were forgotten. This situation was quickly resolved and we were brought the beer as well as an extra one to overdeliver (on the house). This was a nice touch until we were charged for both on our final bills. This was quickly resolved by Dallas who removed the charge.

The size of the Caesar salad was half of what it used to be. It was delicious but Baton Rouge is skimping on the portion size.

At the end of the meal, there were extra charges on our bills that were later removed, however, this did not end things on a positive note for some of my family.

Overall, I would give this restaurant another shot as the food was very good and service while inconsistent, finished strong from the point of delivering our main courses to the end.

Dallas was very professional and addressed any concerns that we had. He was kind and compassionate throughout our service.

We waited 55 mins for a party of 3. Hostess told us 15-20 mins and ended waiting with longer with 2 kids. Other people with no reservations of 4 got a table before us. Not impress with the wait.

Took my daughter out for her 23rd birthday. It was an amazing experience and she loved it all especially her food.

It was my wife's birthday and my daughter choose Baton Rouge, we all loved it. Family friendly

Parking: A lot of free park spot

Kid-friendliness: We had a 10 month and 8yrs old, the employee offered good sitting option with a booster for the little baby

I suggest you call ahead and reserve to avoid waiting at the door.
Food is delicious. We enjoy the spinach dip (usually enough for our group of 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 3 kids), and the ribs remain a staple of this franchise, one they deliver consistently.
Baton Rouge is a bit pricier than average, but the food is always good and the service is excellent.
Definitely recommend!

On each occasion, we are received in French and once seated, we realize that we are left with menus in English. The last 4 or 5 times. Are you doing it on purpose?

Nice environment, fast service and excellent food. Visiting our uncles in Montreal from Italy we had a great time. The waiter Matthew is helpful and friendly.

I had dinner and ordered a bavette med and got it rate. Returned it and came back the same way.
They need to learn their cooking temperatures, and the size of bavette needs to be bigger for the price they charge.
