Mama Dumplings - (Saint Jean)

My kids and I love to go here. It’s our go to dumpling spot very fresh and delicious. The only issue is the pricing is a bit too expensive but other than that lovely restaurant!

The food tasted good. We ordered the Chef Choice, a combination of different dumpling chosen by the chef. I had steamed, my Mom had pan fried. Mom had food poisoning. We can't identify which flavour because there was a mix. Won't be dining here again.

I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now, and they never disappoint. The food is always delicious, fresh and consistent. The dumplings are hand made in view of the customer, and this detail is much appreciated! The decoration is beautiful and simple creating and intimate and warm ambiance to enjoy your delicious dumplings! A staple of the West Island, I believe everyone should take a moment to enjoy the food here. They will always get a 5/5, and I will keep coming back as I just can’t get enough! The portions are amazing too, you get quite a bit of dumplings in your steamer which makes for delicious leftovers if you can’t eat it all!

One of our favorite spots for dumplings in the city! Dumpling made on the spot and you can watch it happen. Incredible flavor, service and home cooked meal vibes.

Honestly the best dumplings i’ve ever eaten and got a cheap price. Everytime i go to Montreal i make a stop there. The service is always super fast and the restaurant is family friendly.

I have to say I wasn’t too impressed with the dumplings. They were mid, just okay and not a lot of choices for pescatarian.
The peanut butter dumplings were also not too great.
I wouldn’t go back to this dumpling place, there are sooo many more all around that taste a lot better.
One thing I did like is that their dumplings were not overcooked with the steam and stayed a little firm.
Service wasnt too bad either, but they can pay a little more attention to their customers.

When I first entered the restaurant, the madam that was serving was taking the order of an Asian family by asking if they were ready to order. Because of that, I sat and waited for her to come take my order. 5 minutes passed and she didn’t come. Because of that, I got up to the counter to order. She asked me if it was to go like she didn’t see me sat and waiting. I said no for here. She sent me back to my seat so she could take my order. I sat waiting some more. After ordering, I was waiting for my food to arrive. During that time, the staff were looking at me intently, making it very uncomfortable. Then my food arrived. While I was eating, I saw the staff still looking at me, making this whole diner experience uncomfortable. As a black woman in Montreal, I didn’t think having black people in a restaurant could stirr up this much attention. Before I was done eating, the server came to me with a bowl for to go. This was very unusual for me because I was not used to packing my to go boxes myself in a restaurant. Then, after I was done packing, I hinted to her that I was done. She saw me. Despite that, she cleaned her restaurant, took to go orders, took phone calls while I was sitting bewildered. Then she came to me with the bill and asked me if I wanted more water. While pouring the water, she poured some on the table, looked at me and left. I smiled ackwardly thinking that it was unusual but she would come clean it up. She didn’t. She left that water spill there for me to deal with. I payed and asked for the bill which she threw at me with disdain. I will not be coming back.

They used to be very good but lately the food always comes undercooked!! Even when you ask to cook it a bit longer they are still coming undercooked
