I had a very good overall experience at this Egyptian food restaurant and would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic flavors. I tried the Hawawshi, bachamil, and the konafa cup with mango.

The Hawawshi stood out as a highlight. It’s prepared with traditional Egyptian baladi bread, stuffed with well-spiced meat that has a rich, homemade taste. One small note: the portion sizes could be improved. The small size is definitely too little for a single adult, and even the large doesn’t feel as generous as expected.

The konafa with mango was absolutely delicious. The sweetness of the konafa paired beautifully with the fresh mango, making it one of the best desserts I’ve tried in a while. I’d happily go back just for this dish.

The bachamil was good but could use a slight improvement. I felt that the top layer had too much wheat flour, which made the taste a bit heavier and less creamy than I was expecting. With a little refinement, it could easily be excellent.

On the positive side, the prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the quality and authenticity of the food. The service was also polite and efficient, which made the whole experience pleasant.

Overall, this place is a great spot to enjoy Egyptian cuisine. With a few adjustments to portion sizes and slight refinements in the bachamil, it could easily become one of my top go-to restaurants.

I recently visited this restaurant and was curious to try something authentic. When I looked at the menu and couldn’t decide, I asked the owner for a recommendation. He suggested two traditional Egyptian dishes, which I decided to try.

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The food was served in disposable containers. On top of that, we were charged extra for a couple of pickled vegetables that were placed on the side — something we never ordered.

What was even more surprising was when I asked about the spices used in the dish, the owner said he didn’t know because a woman prepares the food elsewhere and he just heats it up in a microwave !!!!!!. That raised concerns about how fresh the food actually was — it could have easily been cooked a day or two before.

Overall, the quality didn’t match the price at all. It felt more like reheated homemade food rather than a proper restaurant experience. Wouldn’t recommend.

I would like to start off by saying, this restaurant has been my worst dining experience in Montreal, the so called: “Egyptian food” is actually horrid and tasteless, stale and dry. I had never had to pay a hefty amount of money for such low quality and low quality. The chef was blindly cooking my meals. Food was being microwaved upon arrival for pickup as there is only 2 small tables - Most of the dessert menu was “unavailable” Wouldn’t recommend in a million years. Please change head chef or sell your restaurant, shame on you for calling it Egyptian

A place to avoid please! Don't waste your money! The chicken is Maxi's and it's already cooked! The rest is all frozen and then put in the microwave! I was really disappointed!! The molokhiya disaster! Catastrophe is cheated!
I am Algerian and I love Egypt and everything connected to Egypt but what this restaurant offers is rubbish!
Please owner not destroy the image of Egyptian cuisine! Make it fast food

I can't pay this place enough compliments. The staff is incredibly friendly and warm, and of course the food is fabulous. We wanted to serve falafels as our late night snack at our wedding, but Mariam was so excited and supportive that she developed our idea into a beautiful spread of falafel, hawawshi, kushari, katayef, and kunfafa and all of it was a HUGE hit with our guests. Thank you a million times over to Tanoura and their team for everything!

This place is a hidden gem in West-Island and should be valued more. Their Egyptian dishes were delicious! I loved the Mouloukhia (was my first time trying) and the Hawawshi with Tahini sauce was my favorite as well as their falafels were the best ones I’ve had in Montreal (crispy on the outside and tender on the inside). Will definitely come back for more!
