We enjoyed our dinner at Arome very much yesterday. The service and mesl we're impeccable. Delicious prime rib and flat iron skirt steak. Our waiter was attentive but not too much. A positive experience all the way around. Highly recommend. Excellent value for what you get.

Overall, it was mid.

The good: the venue itself is gorgeous and the service is fantastic. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and even gave us a round of free drinks to make up for the disappointing experience. The cocktails were also amazing. The bartender did a great job, and the pricing is honestly a steal. At most fine dining restaurants you expect $15–$20 per cocktail, but here they were $10–$12.

The bad: the duck Wellington was cooked from frozen instead of fresh. When I took a bite, the middle still was not fully thawed. When you go somewhere for fine dining, you expect the food to be cooked fresh. When they brought it out a second time, it was extremely dry. It honestly felt like they just reheated the one I had already tried instead of making a new one.

We also had the catch of the day (salmon). The middle was once again undercooked, and we found a couple small bones in it. I know bones can happen and it is not always avoidable, but when you are paying for fine dining, these are the kinds of details you are paying to avoid.

The portions are enormous! I was not expecting that, the value for the amout of food you get is amazing. The food is also delicious. The service was a bit slow and it took a while after we were done to get the check but the server was overall friendly, professional and helpful.

I booked a business dinner for 8, and the embarrassment I endured from the terrible service was abysmal. Most of us ordered the aged steak which was received cold and not medium rare at 10p.m., we returned the steaks to be cooked medium rare as requested and waited another 30 minutes. Half the table was done their food before the other half received theirs. We asked why the service was so terrible seeing that the individual bills were well over 100$ and the server shrugged and apologized for the inconvenience. For the quality you'd expect from such a place, we were all very disappointed. The efforts made to rectify the situation were not very good, and the sensation we got of a lack of importance to having to sit for over 3 hours total to eat a meal was surprising. This is the first bad review I have ever given, and hope that management see this and takes action for the sake of keeping one of Gatineau's high end restaurants relevant. I am proud of my city and would hate for this place to lose its reputation.
