Un lugar para tomar un café, leer un libro, ir con los amigos...no sólo el café es bueno, también el servicio, el ambiente y la comida.

Had excellent empanadas and tacos today. Friendly and attentive service also. Worth a visit or many!

Probably good but never tried because it is never open when I go (12-1pm, week day). Always very disappointing as there is not one good cafe inside the portage buildings.

HORRIBLE!online says OPEN it was closed! At the door we saw the opening hours 11 to 5 on Saturdays. Tottally closed!

We were only here for the weekend, otherwise I would go back again repeatedly. It is definitely worth making this a stop on your list even if it's just for the coffee. The food, atmosphere, and service was fantastic! We had a cappuccino, an americano, and soup and veggie sandwich. The server was very sweet. It is a great place to grab a quick bite.

Quaint café in portage. Walking distance from offices, lots of shops, and parks. Caring staff and good variety of South American food.

Good, quality food, prepared simply. A refreshing change from all of the pub fare and fast food in the area. Great coffee as well.

Tasty Mexican cafe. Food is excellent and coffee superb (nice rancillio machine and competent barrista). The food is fresh and homemade.Menu consists of tacos, empanadas, burritos etc...soup is also very good.Ironically, it is located right across from a dreadful pizza joint and bar.Cost is about 18 $ for and americano, burrito and dessert cookie.Great for lunch. The grunts in the asbestos laden phase 1 to 4 buildings nearby have limited sentience to great places of this sort.Seating is limited.

I’m so happy I found this place right beside my work. The empanadas are amazing - just like in Latin America. The lattes also taste amazing. The owner is very friendly and kind. I am definitely becoming a regular here.

Nice atmosphere - okay food. Was not won over by the empanadas, or dessert, but coffee was pretty good. I'd go back if I was in the area, but would never make a special trip. (Note that the empanadas comment comes from a lifetime of empanada eating - both at home, and living and travelling in Spain, Central and South America. Others might not be so discerning) IF you are in Toronto, try Jumbo Empanadas for some authentic samples!

Get some tacos, grab a pineapple soda, and try to not inhale it all too fast. The cute little patio on the pedestrian street is great for a summer break from the office. Also, the pork taco was my favourite!

My first stop at Cafe Merken was for a quick coffee, but i also came back for a big burrito the next day. I was surprised to find a nice little gem! Everything here is done by done: the great coffee as well as the delicious South American food. My burrito was fresh, tasty, flavourful and BIG! The staff is also very friendly. I definitely recommend this place for a quick stop for both coffee and/or a meal.
