Came in today to pick up a handful of pastries for my grandmother. I have been here many times and always had a very pleasant experience. Today was an exception.
The entire store was empty. The woman at the pastry counter was a disgrace. She was unreasonably rude and had us stand at the counter and wait for her to finish eating infront of us. There was another woman at the counter sitting in a chair who acknowledged us, but also chose to not help us.
It is - or was - a tradition for us to visit Pastel and Coco on our way to see family, about 4 times a year. I will admit that the woman's mood seemed to drastically change when she realized that we do not speak French. I struggle to understand why that would permit her to treat a paying customer so poorly. It's a shame. Vegan and gluten free pastries of this quality are hard to find, but polite service isn't. Disappointing.

Even if you aren’t vegan, you will adore this place. It’s calm, chic, and the flat white is divine. My new go-to cafe in Hull (and this as someone who loves dairy!)
Vegetarian options: Exclusively vegan fare - vegetarians can eat everything!

Lovely, very popular vegan bakery and cafe with plenty of savory options too, some gluten free goodies,. Highly recommended. They also sell liquor.

Maybe this place is great if you haven’t had butter or wheat flour for a long time, and I’m trying to be open minded, but all the pastries were hard and dry and bland and pretty bad simulacra of actual baked goods. Nobody finished anything and we left still hungry.
Coffee was pretty good though.

I had breakfast here today. I grabbed a focaccia cheese sandwich with an long espresso. My family tried the scones, danishs and tarts. All the food was really good. Alot of gluten free options. I would come back. Service is always fast and polite.

Finally a beautiful place that offers gluten-free and vegan pastries in our historic neighborhood.
The creations are DELICIOSAS, simply excellent!
My favorite is the 'smoked salmon' puff pastry with London Fog tea.

I would buy and eat all the pastries in this vegan bakery, if i could. They have the most variety of vegan pastries i have ever seen, including vegan tiramisu. Location is not far from the bridge, if you are going from Ontario or Ottawa.
