After reading reviews I had such high expectations. Sadly, the service was so slow despite the restaurant being almost empty. The food was also below average.
It took 30 min for a waiter to even come greet us. We waited 45 minutes to get our drinks and appetisers before they even took the order for the main. My husband got the steak, medium rare and it came out very well done, no red in sight. Escargots gratinés were so salty, way too much of the wrong cheese, burnt bread. I could go on, overall - very disappointed. It was $140, no alcohol, and I didn’t even get a main because despite noting my allergies in my booking, my meal came back full of it. (Should have mentioned it while ordering, so partly my fault), but only to illustrate that it was way overpriced for a couple of virgin drinks, 2 appetisers and 1 main. We had a booking at 6:30 and left at 8:45, we were seconds away from missing the fireworks because of how slow the service was. I wouldn’t go back.
Atmosphere was very good for date night, food was delicious especially the arancini balls. Cocktails were very very good and service was good as well

A Hidden Gem in Gatineau – Sans façon Delivers Big on Style, Flavour, and Service Today’s lunch date was completely unplanned—but turned out to be an absolute win. Our original spot was closed for lunch, so my wife remembered a place someone mentioned during a recent workshop. She checked her notes, a few options popped up, and the only one open at the time was Sans façon. One quick look online, and we were immediately intrigued. The aesthetics, the menu, the vibe—it checked all our boxes. So off we went. From the moment we stepped inside, the place just wowed us. The interior design is incredible—modern yet warm, with a touch of Irish decor. We were invited to sit wherever we wanted, and since it wasn’t too busy yet, we actually went table shopping! We checked out the left, the right, and even upstairs before claiming the biggest corner table in the house—usually perfect for a work dinner, but today it was our royal suite for two. Our server, Kaëlle, was exceptional from start to finish. She made us feel right at home, catered to us with a smile, and remained attentive even as the place filled up. We started with oysters—shucked to perfection and beautifully fresh. Then came a side of shrimp to warm up the taste buds. For mains, my wife had the Steak Frites: seasoned perfectly and served at just the right temperature. I went with the AAA Aged Beef Tartar, which wasn’t even on the menu yet—and wow, what a treat. The presentation was stunning, and the flavours absolutely nailed it. Let me say it again—the design of the restaurant is something special. It adds so much to the experience. But the true star? Our waitress. Kaëlle was quick, professional, and clearly passionate about the place. Service like that takes a great meal and turns it into an unforgettable experience. We’re already planning our return and will be recommending Sans façon to all our friends and family. Gatineau has a new favourite.

We have heard amazing things about Sans Facon but nothing could have prepared us for just how unforgettable the experience would be.
I ordered the seafood risotto, and it was nothing short of heavenly. Every bite was a perfect balance of creamy risotto and exquisitely cooked seafood. The shrimp, scallop, and lobster tail were the freshest I’ve ever tasted, plump, tender, and bursting with flavor. It’s rare to find a dish where each component is equally perfect, but this one truly delivered.
My partner went with the smash burger, and he hasn’t stopped raving about it since. Juicy, flavorful, and expertly seasoned, it was a masterclass in how a burger should be done—simple, bold, and unforgettable. And the fries were delicious too.
To top it all off, the service was impeccable. Our server, Jean-Sébastien, was warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made us feel incredibly welcome throughout the entire evening.
Sans Façon has quickly become one of our favorite dining spots, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates thoughtful cuisine and top-notch hospitality.

Cocktails and appetizers were great, service was great, but I had the steak and it was cooked to my liking but the quality of the meat was average. Price was reasonable and we had a great evening!

Every single time I go there, the service is always perfect, the food is to die for and the drinks taste a little too good! The staff is friendly, respectful and make you feel very comfortable!

Great food! Great wine! Great atmosphere!
However, with that said, I gave a 4 star for the food due to the price and the quantity you get. I ordered the Dore (fish) and I may have received 1.5oz of fish, the main protein was not the star of the show.
Oysters were good and the burrata salad was fresh!
I would go back, however, only for drinks and appetizers.

I was disappointed with the portion I received. Was looking forward to having a nice lobster tail so I ordered the risotto with shrimp, scallops and lobster. I received one small scallop, 2 small shrimp and 2 so called lobster tails the size of my thumb. What the hell is that. Oh yes and a plate full of risotto. No bread or buns. I will not go back. What I received tasted good but very expensive for a plate of risotto.

Never assign a task to someone who has nothing to do. The place was very quiet. Server was nice but the food came out COLD. Not “not hot” cold. It sat under the lamp for way too long. Waited forever for the bill. Won’t be back.

I was truly disappointed with my meal after reading the reviews. I had chosen to go here for dinner with my husband and daughter. The food took almost 1.5 hrs to come out and our tomahawk steak was cold when we finally got it. Our server was very apologetic. It was surprising when I had asked for a manger, there wasn't one working that evening, especially on a Saturday. We were given a discount which really didn't cover much however, that's not even what I was there for, it was the reviews about the food and the meal was disappointing.

the bread was stale, ruined my meal
Very good oysters and mussels, the cod was less interesting but still good. The cocktails are creative and interesting. The service was OK but the music was deafening even though we were only 2 tables occupied in the restaurant. Impossible to speak or hear each other despite our repeated requests.
