The six of us really enjoyed our time at Sterling . Standouts included our main server , Ariane along with her serving / busing Colleagues...All very personal and very attuned to our table's needs...My steak was very good , ( just a little tougher around the outside :)) and our Guests were also very pleased with their meals...( Tout le monde a apporté ce qu'ils ne pouvaient pas manger , chez eux !! ) Félicitations , Marc Q. The atmosphere was lovely and upscale. The service was exquisite. Most of the food was great (appetizers, sides, dessert). But...
My steak was somewhat mediocre. Their thing is that it's a wood-fired grill, and I get that means there will be some smokey taste. But virtually all I could taste was the smoke. I couldn't really taste the meat, which is very disappointing for a medium rare $74 sirloin.
I have been to Sterling before, about 8 years ago, and I don't remember having the same problem. Not sure what happened, or if it was a one-time thing.

We had our wedding reception at Le Sterling Gatineau, and it was truly amazing from start to finish. The team at Le Sterling was so flexible, accommodating, and welcoming. They made the whole experience seamless and stress-free.
The service was absolutely TOP NOTCH. Every single staff member was professional, kind and attentive. I never once saw the bottom of my glass ; wine or water!
A huge shout-out to Ian and Melie, and the two other servers whose names I’ve sadly forgotten, they were all exceptional.
And let’s talk about the food and wine… To die for. Honestly, I would choose their dishes as my last meal. We had La Table d'Hôte : Every bite was bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented.
The atmosphere was just as incredible. We were upstairs in Le Cellier, a cozy and elegant space that felt intimate yet refined. It was the perfect setting for such a special day. If you’re thinking of dining out or hosting a special event, don’t hesitate. Go to Le Sterling. You’ll be treated like royalty, eat like a King/Queen, and leave planning your next visit.

We have eaten at Sterling many times over the years and have never been disappointed! Took my mother in law for her first visit to celebrate her birthday and she loved it
Our experience at Sterling Restaurant did not disappoint. Our server, Pascal was professional, knowledgeable, personable and efficient. As suggested, we ordered the Table D'Hote menu. Everything we ordered from the Soup of the Day, Appetizers, Main Courses and Desserts were flavourful, fresh and delicious. We also felt that we got great value for what we ordered. Additionally, we had the pleasure of meeting Chef Terri as he was cooking meats on the famous maple wood grill. Therefore, based on our experience, we would definitely return to Sterling and would recommend it to our family and friends. Exemplary customer service. Well done!

Table d'hôte offered good choices. Food was very hot including the vegetables. Dessert included was a very nice piece of cheese cake. Service was excellent. We were seated in a section never seen before on 1st floor in front of bar. No noise but not as cozy as upstairs which I assume was closed as we were there on a Tuesday.
