It's always nice to see a Haitian restaurant in a food court at the Laval crossroads. I was there for the first time and for the quantity/price it was correct. On the other hand, when I was there the second time the griot was really hard and dry, but the stuck rice remains quite good and the pikliz is really incredible! I went back there on my next trip to the crossroads, but I will try something other than the griot

Not the best griot I've eaten. A little dry. We were expecting to have more plantains and salad. The person at the counter leaned on the ground and did not change his gloves to play with the cash register and make the dishes…
I recently tried Aléken at Carrefour Laval, and I can honestly say it's a real gem for Haitian cuisine lovers! The dishes are delicious, well-seasoned, and prepared with fresh ingredients. I particularly loved the griot, perfectly tender and crispy, accompanied by a perfectly seasoned pikliz.
The service is warm and welcoming, which adds to the experience. You can really feel the passion behind each dish, and the portions are generous for excellent value.
If you're looking for a great place to enjoy authentic Haitian specialties in Laval, Aléken is an excellent option. I'll definitely return!
The customer service really needs to be worked on and the few times I went by, the employees seemed impatient and in a hurry, lacking tact with the customer.

The Griot will not be the best I have eaten. There are a lot but a lot too many pieces of fat. That's half the dish. This is way too much. The rice is good but too salty. The banana is small but quite good. On the other hand, the Pikliz is very good.
The staff was nice.

I took the griot plate. It's good, not the best I've eaten, it was a little dry but it tasted good. The sides of pasta salad and rice were good. I like plantains. Thank you, I ate well.

For me customer service is key. I didn't feel I received a welcoming and kind service. The impression I got from the guy who was at the counter was as if I was bothering him. I hope he was a better day.
Food was okay.
Overall I would not recommend this place.

The food here was top tier...amazing rice and beans, chicken, macaroni salad, and fried plantains. Beats all the other options in this food court for sure...

I couldn’t even wait I finish my food to write this review. Mostly because I want to enjoy every bite of my food to the maximum miam! Aléken has my heart!! I’ve been welcomed by the most nice lady ( she always gives mama bear vibes) and the best food of my day. Trust me when I tell you the meat, the piklis, the rice and even the sauces are very juicy and fresh. I would definitely return again. Thank you for yummy food and a big smile ??

Let's start by the welcoming vibe of this place. The staff were ok and nothing more.
Let's get into what I ordered. I don't eat meat, therefore I ordered everything individually which costs me more than if I had bought a combo. The lady that was serving the food didn't suggest me any alternative or better option.
The rice and beans were missing salt and flavour. I had better! The amount was ok but for the price I paid, should've been a bit more.
The fried plantains were giving dry, no salt, no flavour. The least you could do is sprinkle some salt on the plantains right after they came out of the fryer. They weren't even crispy.
The "macaroni" salad was bland! All it had was mayo and it cost 5.50$. I took a bite and I was done.
The sauce and pikliz came in little tiny containers. Sauce tasted watery, I had better and the pikliz, THE PIKLIZ wasn't even SPICY! Who serves non spicy pikliz? It was basically coleslaw with no flavour.
Did Aléken Restaurant lived up to the hype? No! Overall, because of the lack of flavours in general, the small portion of the sauce, the "macaroni" salad and pikliz, I rate Aléken 2 out of 5 stars

I ordered from Uber eats. I got the griot and literally half of the meat was chunks of fat. Inedible! I gave it to my dog he loved it. But that was not the plan… the rice and macaroni salad and plantain were good. Such a shame honestly if the meat was even mostly meat and a little bit of fat I wouldn’t have minded. But this is all fat you can see on the right I separated the fat from the meat. And this photo was taken after I gave my dog one giant piece of fat so there was more in there than it looks.
