Stopped in because they were open late & WOW!!!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!😋❤️
Lucas suggested the curry chicken & it had a nice, smooth kick of spice🔥... a party for your palate!!🥳🎊
Upon Remi's recommendation, I tried the Chinese churro & WOW AGAIN!!! 😋❤️❤️ Nice puffy pastry inside but harder on the outside in a delicious sauce that complements it perfectly, bit of cinnamon & a few blueberries & almost marshmallow-like whipped cream! JUST WOW!!!!🥰😍
I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!! A most wonderful culinary delight!!🥰😋❤️❤️❤️
Music was boppin for a fun Saturday night, too!!🎶
Thank you Lucas & Remi for a great experience!! & for service with smiles😊😊, even though I arrived close to kitchen closing time!!! Thanks so much!!!

Good Cocktail 5/5
Fast service on orders
Friendly and jovial waiter but not very present.
Shrimp dumpling 3.5, nice texture but lacks flavor.
Tao Burger 4.5 generous portion of chicken with sauce and condiment which added flavor.
Braised Beef Noodle 2.5, the braised beef was almost non-existent and cold. Beautiful presentation.
Lo Mein shrimp 2.5. We originally ordered this dish for the lobster, but we received the shrimp dish late because the order for this dish had not been delivered to the kitchen. The broth was good, the shrimp not seasoned.

All the employees we met were very nice, the decorations were very beautiful too.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a couple of friends but unfortunately the culinary experience did not meet our expectations!

A very cute fun place to brunch but I go first and foremost to eat and the food was mediocre. The french toast plates were delicious but my fried chicken was dry and didn't look/taste fresh and overall wasn't appetizing unfortunately. I'm now thinking whether it was made the day before. Beverages and food took a while to come out. Perhaps understaffed?

Sucks cus this place has so much potential!

A unique culinary journey to Gon Bui in Laval

During our visit to Gon Bui, my partner and I had a surprising and pleasant experience in this fusion-influenced Chinese restaurant.

The meal formula is original, a hybrid between tapas and main dishes. We were advised to choose 4-5 plates for 2 people, but with such generous tapas and relatively small main courses, we think 3-4 dishes are enough to avoid having too many leftovers. In our case, the portions were so generous that we took some home for a meal the next day.

Among the tapas, we opted for poutine. Contrary to some reviews, I really liked this bold dish, which highlighted the 5 Chinese spices. The sweet flavors, while surprising, were interesting, but this sweet trend throughout the dishes might not appeal to everyone. This blend of tradition and fusion has its strong points, although sugar can sometimes dominate.

As for drinks, the cocktail menu was impressive, with original creations and quality ingredients. However, the prices were in a high range, between $17 and $18. This remains acceptable given the creativity and generosity of the portions. My partner enjoyed her cocktail, and for my part, I opted for a house beer in a large format can for $10. This rice lager, served in a beautiful bottle, was tasty and excellent value for money.

The only real negative point concerns the wine list. The price of the cheapest wine ($58) was disproportionate to its real value, almost five times higher than its SAQ price. So we opted not to order any, which was a shame, because we were prepared to invest more to accompany our meal.

Overall, Gon Bui offers a unique dining experience, served in a spectacular, maximalist, themed and festive setting with a large wishing tree in the center of the room. The festive atmosphere, attentive service and original dishes are worth the detour. A few adjustments to the flavors and wine pricing policy could, however, improve the overall experience.

I couldn't taste the food.

I think they are trying to overbook their reservations.. it was our first time at this restaurant. When we checked online, many times were available to reserve but once there, some groups of 2 could sit at a table and others (like us) had to sit at the mini bar which overlooks back to the room.

The hostess was not courteous and went to get the manager, because I questioned her about the fact that we had to sit at the mini bar while I was sitting at the entrance without a drink while waiting for my friend and that only 3 tables were occupied for 25 minutes.

I preferred to go elsewhere.

This restaurant is badly managed and a big money grab. AVOID.

Visited with a group of 6 on a friday night for dinner. We were informed at our arrival that we only had the table for 2 hours (this is not disclaimed during reservations). This is why you see so many slots available for reservations when you book online.
As we waited for the group to arrive the waiter came to us 3 times to rush us to order drinks. Once our group arrived we were asked if we still wanted to order food (?) as we had 1.5hrs left to our reservation.

We tried the following dishes:
- Braided beef noodles : average at best and tiny portion of beef for the price
- Tao burger : the fried chicken was chewy and the burger comes by itself. Very underwhelming for the price

Drinks were full of ice.
We were missing cutlery sets for the group and had to ask 2 different waiters and wait forever to get them.

There are many other good asian restaurants in laval. Avoid this one.

Unlucky as we are, we were once again seated below the speakers which made the music a bit too loud for our comfort. Beside that though, we really adored the atmosphere including the liveliness and the glamorous interior design. Especially the way that the ceiling is incorporated in the design, it was quite unique and lovely. The food was amazing. The flavours were adventurous and the options were also great. I especially enjoyed their salted duck egg carbonara udon that had a great creamy texture with an amazing balance of sweetness and saltiness. The other plates were also great but I wasn't a big fan of the peanut butter flavours in their beef noodles. I can see why people like it, but it was just not my thing. I really admire their concept of elevating Chinese Cuisine to a type of fine dining experience, especially while keeping the familiarity of sharing dishes. However, I still feel like the portions are way too small for the prices they charge. Each plate is around 20$ and the portions are just too small in my opinion. That is particularly true for the shrimp dumplings that are 16$ for 4 pieces. The dumplings were good, but still very expensive. The service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, cheerful and patient. We had an amazing time but it did take some time before we got our drinks and the food also took some time before it was served.

Excellent authentic Chinese cuisine, dishes were delicious. The flavors were very different from the Chinese restaurants I knew. The service was excellent too. The only point I liked less was the ventilation, we had a table near the window and the cold air fell on our heads. Next time I will choose a table more in the center of the restaurant.

This place is a little gem. The decoration and atmosphere make everything warm and the food is exquisite (the tataki is to die for). Sitting at the bar, we were able to see the different drinks being made, each one prettier than the next (and really very tasty). And if you like friendly, cheerful service, I've never had better service than this place. DJ, bartender and waiters were most friendly, pleasant and gave good advice.

Immaculate and stunning decor. The ambiance was perfect, and the drinks were on point. However, the food portions were quite small even for a tapas-style restaurant. If you're really hungry, be prepared to order multiple dishes to feel satisfied. That said, it's a great spot for drinks and light bites, especially if you're more about the atmosphere than a hearty meal.
