While the baked goods are lovely, staff needs to be better informed / documentation needs to be made available regarding potential allergens in their pastries and breads. My son has an egg allergy and we were given conflicting information on two different visits about whether their croissant had egg wash on it. I know Bête à Pain can do better than that.

The food here is excellent — truly flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the service and overall experience didn’t match the quality of the kitchen.

We arrived around 9 a.m. to a mostly empty restaurant, only to be told we had an hour and fifteen minutes to eat because it would “get busy.” By the time we left, it was fuller but far from packed. Despite all the open tables, we were seated right next to the bathroom, which made the setting less enjoyable.

My friend asked if she could have scrambled eggs instead of poached, but was told no substitutions were allowed even though that’s a pretty simple change. She switched dishes, only to receive a very small portion for the $25 price tag. When we politely asked for some bread (it is a bakery, after all), we were told it wasn’t complimentary on weekends and would be $7.50 extra, which felt excessive.

To top it off, our server reminded us exactly at the 1h10 minute mark that we had to leave, even though there were still open tables when we walked out.

It’s a shame, because the food really was outstanding, but the service policies and atmosphere left a bad taste. I don’t think I’ll dine in again until the service experience improves. This was my second time going with a similar experience.

A perfect atmosphere for a cozy breakfast, lunch, or coffee break.

The menu selection is quite original and tasteful - the dough quality was by far the best I've had in a while (notably the cheese steak sandwich).

We were lucky to find a spot to dine-in, it was quite crowded.

I love this restaurant. Their mocha is so great. I wish they would bring back the mocha praliné 😭 everything is awesome, the employees are always nice, the bakery is great, and the food is always good!

We love it here! It’s one of our go-to places in Laval for brunch! It never disappoints! Our favourites are definitely the croissant with salmon or smoked meat eggs benedict as well as the shakshouka! If it’s your first time here, you definitely have to try their bacon! You could also get some pastries after your brunch, it’s one of the best in Laval! ❤️
If you’re going during the weekend, you have to make a reservation because it gets really busy!
