Food was okay and too expensive, they also added $40 for nothing
We visited this Afghan restaurant during our trip to Montreal from Ontario, hoping to enjoy some good traditional Afghan food. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the experience. The rice was not cooked in the authentic style—it seemed like it was made separately and topped with carrots, but the taste was off and not enjoyable.
Additionally, the upper-level dining area was not clean. The chairs had visible dirt and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, which affected the overall dining atmosphere.
We truly hope the owners focus more on improving food quality and cleanliness rather than just making money. Quality is what brings customers back. With some effort and care, this place could do much better.

I went to dine in last night. I saw the girl name khurdship something screaming at her employees non stop. The way she talked so disrespectful. I’m not afghane but my husband is. I can’t believe the manager let that slide like that. My husband told that apparently she kick out somebody. If she is the manager she has no way how to talk to her employees. The atmosphere is the place I do not recommend. I would rather get food my food from other place than listening to the disrespectful employé khurdship inside !!

Riaz Kabab is one of the best places for authentic Afghan cuisine!
Everything I’ve tried here has been truly delicious. The chicken and beef kebabs are juicy, tender, and seasoned to perfection. The Afghan rice (pulao) is flavorful and expertly cooked. Their naan bread, especially the fresh and fluffy version, complements every dish beautifully.
What makes Riaz Kabab extra special is the passion and skill of Chef Manija Ahmadi. Her attention to detail—whether in the perfectly spiced kebabs, the savory chapli kebabs, the comforting kofta curry, or the delicate mantoo dumplings—really shines through. Every bite tastes homemade and soulful.
The staff is friendly and attentive, the service is quick, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is clean and welcoming. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, this place delivers an unforgettable Afghan food experience.
If you appreciate authentic Afghan flavors crafted with love by Chef Manija Ahmadi, Riaz Kabab is an absolute must. Highly recommend!

Restaurantji Recommends
Visited this Afghan restaurant in Laval with my family during our trip from Australia. While the environment was decent and there was plenty of parking with no reservation needed, the staff could have been more welcoming, and the food quality didn’t quite meet expectations compared to other Afghan restaurants we’ve tried. Room for improvement in both service and taste.

Disappointing Experience for 17$ - Please Remove This Sandwich
I recently tried the sandwich and I have to say, it was a major letdown. The sandwich tasted overwhelmingly like turmeric, which completely masked the other flavors. To make matters worse, it was buried under a mountain of fries—almost 3/4 of the box was just fries, leaving barely any room for the actual sandwich.
I expected much more: a flavorful, well-balanced sandwich, not a soggy, turmeric-heavy mess surrounded by an absurd amount of fries. Honestly, for that price, I felt like I was paying for fries, not a sandwich.
I strongly recommend removing this sandwich from the menu. It's not worth the money, and it’s really not up to the standard I expect from a place like this. also think the counter staff should be more helpful in recommending items.
If they know the sandwich isn’t great, they could have steered me towards something else on the menu. It’s about offering the customer a better experience, not just pushing a subpar item.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share this. About an hour after eating, I had stomach pain and a fever that lasted all night. Even after three days, I’m still not feeling well. I paid $35 for a meal and a Coke, and honestly, it wasn’t worth it at all. Very disappointing.
One of the best Afghan cuisine in Montreal.
