The first reason to go to a Restaurant is for the food. The service is secondary and the ambiance tertiary consideration. We were two and decided to try Steak Frites because the wait for a table at the Keg was 1.5 hours long.
Unfortunately the Food was not good at all and we regretted our decision. We both ordered the Rib Steak 14oz (the largest offered), Medium, one with Pepper Sauce and the other one with Dijon sauce. The rib steak cooking was very bad, tasteless, no proper searing not grilled. The steak felt like it was sitting in the freezer for a long time and placed on a cooking plaque (Plaque de Cuisson). Plus it was no juicy and was almost well done, feeling boiled inside (and why this implied it was cooked frozen).
This is deli style cooking and not worth the price which was rivaling Keg Steak prices, but the quality is Fast Food grade.
Arguably, meat tastes better in a B-12 or Harveys Hamburger than this one. Very disappointed by the food quality.
And also there are no options for changing the fries to sweet potato ones either, (which is a popular alternative now days). Albeit this doe snot factor in my grade here.
I am giving a 1 star factoring in the service and ambiance. Because if for the food, it would be no stars at all. This was the first and last time eating at Steak Frites. Go to keg or other Steakhouses if Steak is and meats is what you want. The Keg Rib Steak is 20oz and perfectly grilled and seared, juicy inside with a better assortment of side dishes all for a difference of 5$.

The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. The food is made with quality ingredients. The fries are all-you-can-eat, which is nice. It’s a chill place where you can have a conversation without having to talk over loud noise.

Steak is definitely not AAA quality! But is ok, fries are home made, but if you order more than 2 times the waiter gives you this strange look! And after you get cold fries, because you’re surprised him that you want also fries with the steak! There minimum tip on the Interac terminal is minimum 18% and it’s calculated after tax, so they getting 25% tips and that don’t seem to make them happy, because the waiter looked on the bill quite surprised and you’re getting second strange look! I think that this place is one time deal and that’s it!

As someone that is picky with food, ESPECIALLY sea food, they have one of the most delicious salmon I’ve ever had Unlimited fries as well The greens is also cooked really well, not dry And the dessert (chocolate vanilla ice cream) is just LOVELY!!! Pricing is great too, definitely worth checking out

A 1st for a birthday and a super nice atmosphere! the waitress was really #1 in her service (sorry I forgot her name but if the message is seen) we were 4 beautiful black women and we were seated on the bench at the back ! The food was delicious, the place was clean! The speed to get our dishes * like speedy gonzales!!! What more can I say!! This waitress deserved every $ of her tip! I will come back and I hope to be served by you!
