Plan ahead for the holidays! Nothing else open in the area so a bit of a captive audience. The Christmas holiday menu was lovely however, the buffet was atrocious!

The food at dinner is awful -- really poor quality for the price. It's like bad wedding food, or generic business meeting/conference food. It's bland and old fashioned. The breakfast buffet is better and lunch options only slightly better.

Dinner at Aux Chantignoles never disappoints. All food is prepared perfectly and the cocktails are outstanding. Service was impeccable and our server was able to customize our orders to our specific needs. The table d'hote was very well priced and provided a range of choices.

I am saying this to help the restaurant and the hotel - my wife and I have always enjoyed staying at Montebello, but I fear the hotel and restaurant seem to think that they can survive based solely on the unique nature of the building and it's surroundings - it cannot.

Having dined at the hotel restaurant just last year, my wife and I already had low expectations of what to expect at lunch when we were there just a few days ago. Somehow we did not set our expectations low wnough. My wife and I waited for 50 minutes only to receive two plates of greasy calamari, fries, and the world's plainest burger. Honestly it was shocking, especially for the price. My local bar, which I do not hold in high standings, would have done better. This was a shocking new low and I hope something can be done to put the restaurant back on the right track.

Overall very pleased with our visits to this restaurant. We stayed at the hotel for 6 days and were able to try out their restaurant on many occasions. Service was overall good and polite. We visited for work, which for 3/6 days held their shared conference meals at this restaurant. Our first shared meal we made sure to inform the waiter and organizers of our section of the celiac allergy of one of the group members we were with (gluten allergy - has an EpiPen) and were assured they recorded the issue and it was no problem. While we first were comforted we left concerned. The girls plate had to be brought out 3 times due to her steak not being cooked and all three times looking different, last one with a sauce that contained gluten… now I will say that this was our main concern for the majority of the stay, every other visit we had (over 8 of them) we were statistics. We had group supper and the food was exceptionally. Cream brule and seafood vol au vent is are delicious. Didn’t get a picture of the beef tartare and our other appetizer but those were also great.

We were greeted and seated quickly. Service was attentive and unobtrusive, paying attention to the little things. For example, when serving the coffee after lunch, the waiter waited until they returned to serve the person who was momentarily away from the table. We were all happy with the food.

We love the Chateau Fairmont in Montebello but were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food at this restaraunt. We ate there for 2 nights and all of the meals we had were bland and tasteless. Duck was chewy and tough to eat, and the lamb was served on a bed of half cooked tasteless potatoes and vegetables. Very disappointing meals.

Nous avons passé un excellent moment au restaurant Aux Chantignoles. Le service était attentionné et chaleureux, le cadre absolument magnifique — parfait pour une soirée spéciale ou un repas en famille. Les plats étaient délicieux et bien présentés, avec une mention spéciale pour la viande parfaitement cuite et les desserts raffinés. L'ambiance calme et élégante rend l'expérience vraiment agréable. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter!

I’ve been coming here for years and the food ranges from good to outstanding. Having said that, I experienced this weekend a noticeable drop in customer service attitude that merits being addressed by management.

Overall everyone working in the restaurant that I came across lacked a demeanour of being there to enhance the customer experience. Everyone seems tired, and going through the motions and for many employees annoyed that the customer has requests or is even there.

The short woman in white who was the hostess Saturday and Sunday morning has a very poor attitude and seemed annoyed that I expressed a desire for a certain kind of seating (which they could easily accommodate).

At lunch, the same woman responded poorly when I pointed out we needed more water at our table. She told me she was busy and to go speak to wait staff at the other end of the room. I asked her to do it and she got upset and said I should do it myself and only said she would get to it when she finished what she was doing.

Chef at the omelette station on Saturday was preoccupied with some internal dispute with another staff member. The proper customer service step is to turn towards a customer who is there and, if it’s absolutely necessary to continue the staff discussion , greet the customer with a smile and tell them you’ll be with them in a moment and quickly finish the operational discussion. Instead I stood there for 30 seconds and when I finally said “excuse me” I was told to wait like I was a bother.

This morning a male waiter complained about not receiving a tip. He was virtually invisible to me the entire time. The only interaction I had with him is that he poured me a glass of water. The breakfast is a buffet. I had no interaction with him other than to receive the bill. He confronted me about the lack of a tip and started arguing with me why he deserves a tip. He started asking what I do for a living as if to guilt trip me. No competent waiter will ever behave like this.

Get your act together management. You’re a high end establishment but you’re letting your employees conduct themselves like toddlers who don’t understand the job they are doing.

The service was excellent with immediate contact by our server and very timely presentation of our drinks and meal. The menu was a little different than online so probably needs to be updated. We both had an appetizer and main and everything was tasty and served hot. An excellent experience over all.
