Been here twice with different sizes of parties and both times were excellent. Both parties unanimously agreed that this is the best salt and pepper place in Montreal and we will be frequenting again. Serving portions were big and greatly priced. Both the lady and gentleman serving us both times were friendly and kind and gave us good recommendations. Gem of a place.

Been visiting this Montreal staple for over 15 years, and it's honestly one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The place may look quaint and unassuming on the surface, but the food here is pretty darn great! The salt and pepper fried pork chops are, hands down, the best, and an absolute must-try for any newcomers.10/10, would highly recommend this place. Have been bringing friends and family here for years, and they can all attest the same.

Best salt and pepper fried pork chops. Biggest portions size for the price in Chinatown. Got some courtesy tea upon sittin, it was nice although scalding hot. Ordered the pork chops. They come with rice, a fried egg and bok choy. Everything was delicious. I always leave satisfied when I go to this restaurant. The service was nice and the atmosphere was cozy.

Felt like having quick Cantonese dinner, found this gem in Chinatown, after checking out the menu, we order young chow fried rice, the portion was good however the taste wasn’t flavorful enough. Not salty enough and missing eggs and wok fire tasting (wok hay). Besides that only one waiter running the show, he was efficient and quick. Over all we ordered their two must order dishes, salt and pepper fried pork chops and chicken n shrimp with mayo sauce. Both dish was pretty decent, the portion to the pork chop was huge! Consumer Price index was over the chart! They must had 13 to 14 pieces of pork chops for under 14 cad. That is really good value! Besides that we ordered garlic stir fried buk choy, and bitter melon with black bean beef which was off the menu. Over all was great dinner with plenty of left over pork chops. I think we had like 7 pieces left. Will be back to this place when we are ever back to Montreal again.

When we order Chinese food from Montreal Chinatown, we usually go to the same locations. This time we wanted to try something different.. it was slightly difficult to find the restaurant as we didn’t realize that it was located on the second level. Once we got up the stairs, we had a look at the menu and ordered the dishes that we wanted. The food was prepared quite quickly.. everything was ok

Picture this, you're walking the night streets of Montreal Chinatown wondering what's still open. You come across this door with a staircase that leads upstairs and an Aquarium. You decide, "why not?", lets give this place a try.You walk up and are greeted by the waiter. You ask him why the place is called "Amigo", and he replies "well aren't we friends". And he's right, the moment you walk in, that's how you feel, like friends.Looking at the menu, there's a bunch of hidden little gems to cure your cravings. After having visited my Amigo a few times, I can tell you right now that the two things you guys should try is the Hot Sale (porkchop), and the Chicken Mayo. That stuff is absolutely bussin fr.best spot in chinatown hands town, i won't even let someone debate me on this. if you think i'm wrong you're delusional afthanks!!!!

My review is quite generous, the place was good. Finding it was difficult because it’s upstairs and there wasn’t a sign that I could see. The food was ok, the general Tao was a bit hard to chew compared to other places that I usually eat the same dish. The beef fried rice was phenomenal but the Cantonese chow mein was disgusting. It was more like noddles and a thick gravy poured on top with tasteless shrimp sooooo, don’t recommend that. The atmosphere was traditional but a bit lacklustre in terms of lighting and environment. That was probably due to us being seated in a tight corner. The waiter was nice but cluttered as he was the ONLY one to be waiting at least 4 tables, checking out and doing Uber. He was doing too much by himself making wait times longer. More staff needed? Perhaps.

Hello, I ordered this evening with my husband for Valentine's Day. I really like your food, it’s delicious, the general tao chicken is hmmmmm. There is just one small problem, please remove the sinew on the chicken breast. I admit that it would be better and not a bad idea to remove it for those who have a lot of trouble with their teeth, especially for general chicken. recipes no big deal. but the noodles that my husband grabbed aaah my god a dish hummm delicious I tasted it. And I had eaten the beef with the green vegetables, which is good and healthy. Will stay with you because I often go to Chinatown. Happy Valentine's Day

I thought I had tried most of the Cantonese restaurants in Chinatown but somehow missed Amigo as their entrance is so unassuming, you could walk right past and miss it!I was disappointed that the dishes we ordered were very mediocre: the noodles and fried rice were quite bland. My daughter thought the wonton soup was just ok. The best dish by far was the sauteed snow pea shoots, which was on special - it seemed like all the flavour in our entire meal went into that one dish! So maybe Amigo is better known for their dinner menu, rather than lunch. However, the service was warm and accommodating, though it gets bogged down when it gets too busy. And the prices are good, so maybe we'll give dinner a try at some point.*Response to owner:Thanks for the inquiry! Both the pan-fried rice noodles with beef and the fried rice with bbq pork & shrimp had little to no salt or flavour, especially compared to the pea shoots (which was perfectly seasoned). Why are some dishes well seasoned, but others not? If we wanted less salt, we'd request it, but we have no issues with sodium, so usually we'd assume that a dish would be seasoned properly.
