We went to Au Festin de Babette for brunch on a Sunday, and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. My friend had called ahead to reserve a table for two — definitely a good idea, as the place is quite popular.
The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the Plateau. The ambiance is cozy and charming, and the service was genuinely warm and attentive. We both ordered the St-Denis brunch plate — a generous and beautifully presented dish with a waffle, poached egg, salad, gratin dauphinois, and a seasonal side (we had fresh fruit). It also came with a delicious chocolate mousse for dessert. Everything was tasty, but the gratin dauphinois was the star of the show!
Partway through, a friend of ours called after finishing a workout — she was starving and wanted to join us. The staff was incredibly accommodating and quickly arranged for us to move to a table for three. They welcomed her with a smile and served her promptly, which we really appreciated.
We ended up staying and chatting for almost three hours, and at no point did we feel rushed or unwelcome. That kind of relaxed, gracious service is rare and made our brunch all the more enjoyable.
Thank you to the team at Festin de Babette — we’ll definitely be back soon!👌🏼

The food was great and the portions were generous. The pancakes and chocolate mousse got especially rave reviews. The tables were very close together and the room was loud, but it was cute and cosy.

This is one of the places that really deserves a bad review. The food was average. The portion of fruits and mousse from the brunch were to laugh at. The food was overpriced for the quality of what was served. To top it off, the waitress was rude when we asked to change our table to a bigger one. “French restaurant, French rules” she said. And when she didn’t get her tip in the end because of her lack of empathy and confrontational attitude, she reminded me I was “in Canada” and the tip was customary. Two ways, two measures. I strongly recommend against this place.

The service was great, the ambience was good (all Belle Epoque), but the food - not so much.

Au Festin de Babette offers a charming French-inspired brunch experience that feels like a little escape to Paris. The hot chocolate was definitely the highlight. It was rich, creamy, and with a variety that makes it hard to choose just one. My eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was good, and I especially enjoyed trying gratin dauphinois for the first time. All the ingredients tasted fresh and authentic. I especially enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, quirky wall posters, and thoughtful French decor. Despite the prices feeling a bit high for some of the portions, I would definitely return! Next time, I plan on trying their crepes 😊

My partner and I came here for breakfast a few weeks ago and were blown away by everything from the scalloped potatoes (Patates Dauphinois?), and the drinks! Hands down the best hot chocolate I've ever had, period (must try). The portions are ideal, and everything on the menu has been perfected. Can't wait to come again!

Incredible food! Highly suggest the 'Drolet' plate, comes with a lot of variety - even chocolate mousse to quench the sweet tooth and make you not feel bad about not ordering a pancake !

It was nice to have a french brunch for a change. The food was tasty and the portions are decent. The staff is also super nice and welcoming. I removed 2 stars because my sausage was too burnt to be served and I'm sure the cook knew it.

We went early on a Sunday, a bit after they opened, and there were plenty of seats available. The servers were nice and friendly. The interior is cute, with nice details and decoration here and there. They want you to think of French cafes when you are there, and they achieve it. Overall the menu has plenty of good options to choose from
We ordered a brunch combo and two crepes. The combo was great, the sweet crepe (chocolate and pear) was also good, but the savory crepe felt really dry and it was difficult to finish. It really needed some sauce in there to make it easier to eat... Pesto, oil, mayo, cream cheese... anything would have helped.
We also ordered two hot chocolates (babbete and chai chocolates I think) and they were REALLY good! ☕

The food was really disappointing. I ordered the quiche Lorraine, and for the price, I expected a decent portion. You can see the photo I uploaded. What I got was a small, dry quiche with burnt edges and a basic salad with some dressing on top. Since I was with friends, I didn’t want to make a scene, but this was unacceptable.
On a positive note, the restaurant itself looks nice inside, with a cozy atmosphere, and the staff were friendly.

The service provided by the young staff is excellent. The waiters and waitresses do their best and are very attentive. My message is more aimed at the owner. For my first experience at your restaurant, I opted for the salmon quiche. This is a small quiche frozen and probably reheated in the microwave for the occasion. Industrial taste, small pieces of salmon on top, tasteless and dried out. Same thing for the dough. A disaster. I reported it to the waiter who brought me a second one, obviously identical. The accompanying salad (mixed salad pitched on the plate) was drizzled with a vinaigrette that was far too vinegary. So I took 3-4 bites and left most of my plate. I dare to believe that there are better dishes on your menu. But for my part, I don't plan to return to you. It's too much to pay for what I was served. Babette would have swallowed wrong.
