I have been coming to Beijing for over 20 years. Loved it - but tonight was a disaster. Beef and broccoli had virtually no beef, Japanese tofu and pork had NO pork. Nothing was up to their usual standards. I asked if there was a new chef. Nope. Time to look for somewhere new to try.

We used to live in Montreal and had not been to the Beijing Restaurant in over 10 years! We would usually come with a large group including my wife's 90-year-old grandmother. It was her favorite restaurant for going out to dinner. We have had many delicious dim sum and entrees over the years, and the food this night was just as good as we remembered it!!

Dishes were not authentic and not fresh- the stir fried mushrooms had some weird sourness that was not from cooking sauces. However, staff is friendly and place is clean

Restaurantji Recommends
We were tired and hungry and craving Chinese food after being away and in Montreal for a night. Should have known by no Asian customers looking in the window. This is your typical “toursit” Chinese food but very poor quality. Won ton soup had no meat. General Tso chicken was ok barely and Singapore noodles were just a bunch of plain noodles with little quality. Kind of place only to go to when very drunk after a night out and even then wouldn’t be good. Sorry but I don’t recommend.

Nostalgic dining at its finest.
The ambiance, menu, and flavors bring me right back to Chinese restaurants in North America in the mid-80s. This is not fine dining but rather comfort food done right.
Tasty, reasonably priced, and generously portioned, it captures the classic Chinese restaurant experience I remember so fondly from childhood, and I get to relive it here.

My general tao chicken contained maybe 4% chicken 96% breading what a waste of money.
