Amazing Japanese restaurant in the heart of downtown! We were seated outside on the terrace, but as it is completly closed and has large warmers, we felt very comfortable even if the temperature was bellow 14°C the day we went.
As for the food, OMG, almost everything we tried was delicious, everything was fresh and the service was quick and efficient. I highly recommend the saumon bonbon, the salmon tartar, the Okonomiyaki and beef tataki. The Veggie Gyoza and the fried chicken were just okay.
Recommend to make reservation on their website.
Food :
Excellent mix of flavours. Recommend to come as a group.
Food are good to share here.
Service :
Staff are so friendly and they really care for their customers.
Ambience :
So chic. I love the terrace.
Each time we come here, great food , great service.
It’s one of my favourites spot to eat in montreal.
Very responsable price : great food.
The atmosphere here was just amazing! The food was also very good but a little expensive but that could also be because of the ribs that we ordered which was on the more expensive side. The portions are small which is the concept of the restaurant which are plates to be shared. I enjoyed this place and their mocktails were to die for, might just come back for the mocktails honestly😆
We found this restaurant recently even living Montreal so many years, and it is a nice place to share with friends. Food is tasty and service is great too. Not push you finish faster, with some drink, they delivered food slowly .. love this place and will come back soon!
This was an amazing experience! Great food, great people, great ambiance. Our server and the host were both absolutely wonderful and very accommodating, fitting us in during a busy night without a reservation. Despite the crowd, they were still very attentive and all the food was wonderful. The matcha passionfruit dessert is a must-try. Also, definitely go here with people who are willing to try new things. The menu is cool. A side note, though, they don’t have the gyudon since it’s “summer” but it’s currently 40° outside.
We’ve been looking for an Izakaya to go for a while Biiru was a great surprise! We made a reservation and we got the table at the terrace. The decoration is super nice, the staff are friendly and we had such a good time there!
The dishes were delicious, specially the Okonomiyaki (10/10) and the Beef Tataki (10/10).
We’ll definitely be coming back!
My partner and I came from USA to Montreal for the weekend simply to go to Biiru twice for our anniversary weekend. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and truly celebrated us! Complimentary shots and dessert and most of all super fun and friendly servers paired with delicious food! Thank you so much Alexia and sister Juliana for such a wonderful dining experience :)
vibes were lit but genuinely the food was so expensive for what it was i spent $100 on 2 drinks and 3 very mid dishes. A krissen don (sort of poke bowl) the size of my palm cost nearly $23 , needless to say to say my boyfriend and i left hungry and wallets drained.
An excellent expérience, was looking for an asian restaurant that would be open after 10pm, and found this Gem. Professional, hospitable and accomodating staff
My 10 year old wanted Ramen late at night, he got what he wanted. But we got a delightful surprise in all the other items we ordered. Salmon bonbons + unagi skewers + salmon tartar + squid. The hosting and service was friendly and professional. I eat everywhere on the planet. This is a gem tucked away off st Catherine's in the heart of Montréal. Small but precious menu. Highly recommended. Chloé was our hostess. She is a star.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The two stars are for the nice staff and decor. I didn't know you could make japanese food boring, this was a disappointment, you're better off going to the other japanese restaurants in the area. Saiko was amazing and is a close-ish walk.
I like Every savory dishes beside my dessert. Service was great. She made sure we understood the assignment because apparently we ordered too much. Haha! But it was just enough; we def didn't leave hungry.
My final bill was at 53$ minus tips not bad for an outing in 2025...
The place is also beautiful.
Biru is a cool little izakaya tucked downtown Montreal. It’s got a chill vibe and still offers good value for the price. That said, the decor and overall space are starting to feel dated, and the menu could use a bit of a refresh too. Still, if you’re looking for a casual spot with good bites and drinks, it’s worth a visit
okonomiyaki was undercooked, agedashi tofu was too firm, music was too loud. $40 lunch and I'm not full? thankfully the service was decent. I don't recommend it.
Such a great resto! The food is excellent, great atmosphere and price! Very busy so sometimes it's best to reserve.
