We had dinner here on our first day in Montreal. We were so impressed by the food and the atmosphere. The waiter was very nice, and the restaurant was not noisy—it was quiet and easy to have a conversation. We ordered three dishes: the soup of the day, duck salad, and sirloin steak. The portion of dishes was large. I really liked the duck salad. It was special with the crispy duck skin.

This was the first time my husband and I visited Montreal. We stayed at a hotel next to this restaurant. We searched on Google for nearby
a restaurant and decided to have dinner here.

We ordered soup, a house salad, duck salad, and sirloin steak. Everything was excellent! The staff were also very nice.

We highly recommend this restaurant. For me, this was the first time I had ever tried such an amazing duck salad.

The chef, Garry, is one of the best in town. The food is delicious, the tartares are the best! And the service impeccable! Despite the restaurant being in the high end MAA sports club, it has its own entrance and its super easy to meet up. It's my favorite place for business lunches or meetings. The music is soft and can talk (thank god) while having great good. Love this place!

Good was good. Place is modern but a little dark for my taste. Not busy when we went for brunch on a Sunday.

This place lives up to its reputation! Try the 1881 breakfast. There are many reviews on that, but something I was impressed by is the selection of fruits- various melons, berries, pineapple were each perfectly ripe. Someone carefully selected each of those to ensure they were just right. That level of detail is rare and speaks for how they prepare everything else.

The burger was juicy. Cooked to a nice medium/well. The fries were alright, but the majority of them were the size of individual hashbrowns, which seemed weird.

Unassuming restaurant, almost like a cafe, but the food was amazing as was the service.

Restaurant Le 1881 in Montréal is a hidden gem nestled within the MAA Club Sportif on Peel Street. The menu blends refined bistro classics with fresh, seasonal ingredients—standouts include tuna tartare, shakshuka, and salmon eggs Benedict. The ambiance is modern and cozy, making it ideal for brunch dates or casual dinners. Service is warm and attentive, and prices are reasonable for downtown. Though coffee could be better and service can slow during busy hours, overall it’s a great spot for quality dining without the fuss. A solid choice for anyone seeking elevated comfort food in a relaxed, stylish setting.

The 1881 Breakfast, served on weekends only, was my first meal in Montreal, setting the bar for the rest of my visit in this beautiful city. Every part of this dish was singularly delicious, and incredible together. If you're a dinner-for-breakfast person, this is your dish. The beef was perfectly seasoned and fork-tender. The chunky mashed potatoes with duck fat atop a cheese base was divine. The breaded fried soft boiled egg added the perfect texture. As if the meal itself wasn't enough, the dish is served with fruit and generous slices of buttered artisan bread. Well done, Restaurant Le 1881! 👏🏼
