The 1881 Breakfast, served on weekends only, was my first meal in Montreal, setting the bar for the rest of my visit in this beautiful city. Every part of this dish was singularly delicious, and incredible together. If you're a dinner-for-breakfast person, this is your dish. The beef was perfectly seasoned and fork-tender. The chunky mashed potatoes with duck fat atop a cheese base was divine. The breaded fried soft boiled egg added the perfect texture. As if the meal itself wasn't enough, the dish is served with fruit and generous slices of buttered artisan bread. Well done, Restaurant Le 1881! 👏🏼

After a delayed flight, we arrived as the final guests of the evening, not expecting much. To our surprise, every dish exceeded expectations. The fish was delicately seasoned, highlighting its natural freshness, while the duck leg salad was a standout — the meat meltingly tender against the crisp, sweet greens. The thoughtful flavors turned what could have been a tiring night into a warm and memorable welcome, marking the perfect start to our trip. Recommend!
You would never believe 1. that this is a restaurant from the outside and 2. The exceptionally good food that comes out of the kitchen. An absolute gem and seriously good value.
