Very intimate bistro, pleasant staff. We were in a hurry as we were going to a show, We had to rush off before we could finish our meal, we asked for doggie bags, owner told us to go to the show and come back after to pick up the food. He trusted us and did not ask for payment. We came back 2 hours laters to pick up our unfinished food and pay. The food was excellent, charcuterie board and cheeses, great Bulgarian specialtie!
Vegetarian options: great choice of vegetarian . Asparagus, eggplant dishes, mushroom dumplings, etc.

The food was good and the ambiance was nice (cozy) but wow... painfully slow service. Waited approx 1.5 hours for our main course. After eating, waited another 30 minutes to see the dessert menu (we only got the menu after one of us finally got up to find our waiter) and another 20m to even be asked if we wanted to order desert, at which point we gave up and asked for the bill. Another 20+ minute wait for the bill, which was incorrect. Another 20+ minute wait to have the bill corrected. Somehow a casual dinner ended up taking 5+ hours...
We were a group of 9 but I could see the other tables of 2 and 4 had the same issues. The place was not particularly busy when we went.

We held our small wedding reception at Bistro Sofia and the evening exceeded our expectations. Mr. Balov was very flexible, kind and generous in his proposals. We were even able to bring in some decorations and place the room the way we wanted. He got us special prices on selected alcoholic products. Although there weren't many to provide service, the staff were very patient and the food was excellent. All our guests were delighted. We highly recommend Bistro Sofia to eat there or to organize a party or private event.

I’ve been to Bistro Sofia 4 times and it never disappoints. The host is very welcoming, price-quality ratio is excellent and food is delicious.
In fact, my gf who is from the Balkans and I, visited Bulgaria this summer, and we were surprised that the flavours at Bistro Sofia in MTL surpass what we experienced in most of the places there. Restaurant has a nice privately imported wine list with great finds as the red from Bergerac. I recommend the sharing platter for two for a great sample of cheeses, cold cuts and spreads.
