Came for the atmosphere and an espresso. The inside decore is cozy. The doppio tasted like a classic Italian dark roast- best with sugar or milk. The music doesn't fit the vibe. The staff neither. Rap and sweatpants. Christmas decorations are lazy. This place could be so much more if attention was paid and effort was made.

If I could give six stars, I would ...one extra for how much my taste buds danced in confusion and delight. Cafe Castle is where coffee meets therapy and croissants meet emotional support. I ordered a latte that was so good I briefly considered proposing to the barista ...not for love, but for consistent caffeine supply.
The vibe? Somewhere between “European art student” and “I own three journals but finish none.” The food? Let’s just say my plate looked like it had been through a natural disaster when I was done.
If you’re in Montreal and don’t go to Cafe Castle, you’re doing breakfast wrong.

The coffee and service was good, but the vegetable wrap was soggy, cold and unappetizing. For 11$, I was expecting more than a couple of slices of cold aubergine and zucchini in a wrap. Please change your recipe and add at least a little protein in your only vegetarian wrap.

Really nice cafe, especially for it being attached to a hotel. For some reason, by hopes were low but my expectations were for sure exceeded. The coffee was a very reasonable price, and very delicious. The croissant was also good. Service was good, nothing incredible but nothing below good. I would be willing come back here again if I return to Montreal, and I normally don't repeat coffee shops unless the quality is incredible.

lemon loaf was super moist and yummy
This coffeeshop is not living to its potential. The atmosphere and setting are amazing and quite unique in the area, which gives it a particular charm.
However, the prices are inflated past the market around them, you will end up paying a few dollars more on basic items compared to similar experiences around. Food might be good but the portions (ie for sandwiches or quiches) are quite small for the higher price.
I haven't tried the coffee there in a while, I won't be commenting on that. But please DO NOT take the matcha latte: I have tried many matcha lattes from different coffeeshops around Montreal and this has got to be worse one I've had. It tasted like sour, diluted, and uncomfortably cold water with a very subtle hint of a grassy horrible taste. Quite disappointing as a coffeeshop to add matcha on your menu just to copy the market when you are unable to provide a proper high-quality matcha powder and design a latte with correct proportions and taste.

Nice atmosphere!
Not open as late as other places.
Conveniently close.
Nice variety of drinks and food.
Wider variety than the Starbucks across the street!
Also, bigger student discount than starbucks' refill discount (which requires an app).

The food, drinks and ambiance are very nice, and it’s right downtown, so super convenient to work/study at. I really enjoy the chai and bagels! I also love how there’s so many windows, it’s beautiful on rainy days :)
However, I’ve often encountered very rude staff, some who seem to purposely take long to prepare your order. Last time I went, I ordered to go, as I was going to travel, and almost missed my train because of how long the barista took, even though the cafe was quite empty.
On another occasion, they were playing very loud music, which makes it difficult to concentrate if you’re trying to work/study — not sure if this was a one-time thing or if it happens frequently.

Delicious cappuccino!
We ordered the ham and brie sandwich and it was delicious. The coffee was rich but smooth at the same time, but what was really outstanding about this café was the service. Best service that we’ve had at a coffee shop ever! Highly recommend it.
Extra tip: The espresso martinis here are from another world and they are only $10 during happy hour.
Will definitely come back

I absolutely loved this cafe. The service was impeccable, I wasn’t sure what drink to get but the baristas were incredibly helpful and even offered to remake my drink if I didn’t like it. The atmosphere was beautiful, with birds flying around the cafe.
