Tried out Ca Lem in NDG because of a review in MTL Blog and it was a delight. I had the sorbet lime mojito and it was speckled with fresh mint and was delicious and refreshing. All lactose free and there are vegan versions as well. Nice setting for a sweet treat.

Hate to write bad reviews but this ice cream was bad. It was icy and watery, had the Nutella flavor which tasted nothing like Nutella… this ice cream tastes like the ice cream you buy from a grocery store then you forget about it in the freezer for a year…. Yes, like that!!!

Cute atmosphere outside , and the ice creams are really at an affordable price, I bought 2 cones ice creams for me and my brother and we're shocked that it was less than 10$ total!

Delicious ice cream, great selection of home made flavours. If you're nearby, absolutely worth a stop to grab a scoop (or two).
Personal favorite was the Vietnamese ice coffee!

Went to Ca Lem for a late-night sweet treat, and it was definitely a gem! This local spot in the Old Port is a must-visit. We couldn’t decide on just one flavor, so we went with three: Citron Yuzu sorbet, Taro Mauve, and Lime Mojito Granita. All were incredible—great flavor profiles and not overpriced at all.

The location itself has such a lively vibe, always bustling with people for a good reason. The music in the background, the neon lights, and the quirky compliments sticky notes on the bar all added to the fun atmosphere. The service was excellent too, with friendly staff making the experience even better.

I’ll definitely be back soon for more of their delicious creations!

I was really looking forward to trying La CEM, but unfortunately, the ice cream was a letdown. I ordered one of their vegan options, and the flavor had a distinctly artificial, chemical-like taste that completely overpowered any natural ingredients. Even my brother, who sampled it, noticed the unpleasant aftertaste and decided not to order anything.

I tried the green-colored vegan ice cream, expecting something light and refreshing, but it was the opposite — it tasted off, almost synthetic, and left an odd aftertaste. It’s disappointing, especially given how cool the shop looks and how promising the concept is. I appreciate that they offer vegan options, but the execution really missed the mark.

The staff was very pleasant and really tried to help me find something I’d enjoy—so I’ll give them credit for that. Unfortunately, every sample I tried had a strange texture and a strong, artificial aftertaste. It all tasted overly chemical and fake. I ended up walking away without buying anything.

I saw some of the publicity of this cafe at Concordia University. I decided to look it up on social media and saw what it had to offer. It looked very unique and authentic unlike other local cafes in the area, it actually has a very creative menu and the concept has a lot of potential. I was excited to go and try their Taro latte and perhaps grab something to eat. I decided to check it out with time and went out of my way as I believe local cafes need support.I came in and no one was at the counter. A few minutes later a young girl came up. I started asking her about the Taro latte and other lattes and she didn't know too much about them. After finally deciding I will take the Taro latte she told she did not know how to make hot drinks and so I shouldn't order it. She said it in a very non apologetic way, which I thought was very weird. That was very disappointing. Then when I asked about the bubble teas and vegan milk options, she didn't know if there were any. It really made me hesitant about ordering any food at this point. If she couldn't prepare the cafe's signature drink what else could you expect. I decided to go for a bubble tea. Once she gave it to me, she went back with her coworker on the back to talk and giggle. The bubble tea was OK but it was really not the experience nor what the place has advertise. The customer service can clearly improve and hopefully the baristas can learn how to prepare hot drinks no matter what the season is and offer customer what the cafe is selling on the menu.Hopefully I will get to try their Taro Latter next time!
