Delicious coffee

My favourite neighborhood café! Cozy spot ideal for a quick coffee stop. They have limited seating inside, but there's a lovely park just across the street to enjoy your warm drinks.

Whatever the quality of the coffee or biscuits, and although the decor of this little café is nice, I was sorry for the service and the attitude of the seller/owner towards me, not welcoming at all. He refused to allow me to have a long espresso from the machine (without adding water separately... it's the most common method though, and I'm picky about coffee, I admit). He preferred to reimburse me rather than make the coffee again, with the argument that it's like that "a stretch". What I found not at all correct towards me as a client was to offer me a response that I found devious: he took a falsely peaceful attitude, with a calm tone and neutral words, but the message was to refuse to make me the coffee I want, to not listen to my disappointment, to answer me something unrelated when I say my experience that espresso is generally made without pouring water, and that please I I would like a coffee like that... he spoke to me with a condescension masked as kindness, showing that he did not take me seriously, telling me that I was almost crazy with my request which was nevertheless simple. It was such a marked attitude that in this cramped space, another client joined in and stared at me open-mouthed, as if I was doing something completely inappropriate! I left with a peaceful Peace and Love to everyone! In fact, it is kind intimidation that I have just experienced in my humble perception. It's very unfortunate. But I don't believe that any gentle tone necessarily excludes aggressiveness... I found the person who served me aggressive towards me. In his place I would have just made my customer the coffee he wanted and I would have friendly discussed with the person the different coffee methods... Isn't it the social connection that counts in a café?? What is it to be truly inclusive if it is not applied through authentic human warmth?? Besides, would he have had this reaction towards me because he didn't like my face??... I usually tend to never consider xenophobia to explain this type of Kafkaesque situation, but some find myself naive on this... So I won't jump to this conclusion, but I found the situation so insane that I ask myself questions... and for those who feel that I am wasting my energy with this write, know that we may not have the same values... I am not writing this message for myself, because I am not "the most important person". This type of situation is a reflection of certain aspects of society that worry me... a café is a micro-society where an anthropologist would get excited to observe...

Grand choix de boissons au lait végétal, un sandwich végane toujours à la carte ainsi que plusieurs pâtisseries. C'est un excellent café de quartier ! Updated from previous review on 2024-10-06
If I lived in Montreal this is where I would be a regular. Amazing coffee, plenty of vegan pastry options, kind staff, and cozy atmosphere. If you care about good coffee, this is where you need to go. I also highly recommend the banana bread!
Vegetarian options: Half the pastry display is vegan: brownies, cookies, cake slices, and banana bread!
