The cashier was super disrespectful. And they gave me the wrong order, a large latte instead of a medium one. When I ask that I want a medium because that's what I ordered, the cashier said no, take the large one and started screaming at me.I'm never coming back here. Worse van Houtte you can try. She didn't even apologize. I asked to speak with the manager and her friend said I'm the manager. What a circus. Don't waste your money here 🤮

The worst service possible, everything was done reluctantly, they messed up our order, and when we asked them to fix it, they were rude and refused to do anything about it

I am never stepping foot there again. Worst treatment with clients I have never seen this in my whole life here in Montreal. I am never recommending this place ever again.

i used to love this place to study since theres always food around (athough pricy but thats just about every cafe out there) but now the back section is constantly closed for some reason and there’s no longer room to sit? i liked sitting in the back because it was quiet away from the ruckus of the metro and the chattering of people going in and out of the cafe, plus there are outlets to charge my stuff. now its always closed off for some reason and I dont get why? today there were people sitting in the back and I asked if i could go sit there too and was told “no its closed”.. why?? it’s not a comfy study spot anymore and that is very unfortunate. im gonna have to hunt for a new place to study now

I ordered a Chai latte and it didn’t taste good at all. It was worth $7 (smallest size). The ambience of the cafe is okay but not worth the price.

I just arrived at the Café. The café has two seating sections, one just outside the entrance and the other at the back of the room. It's only 4:48 and the back section has been boarded up with a cart. Since there were no seats left in the small front section, I asked the barista if it was possible for me to sit in the back section since the cafe doesn't close until 8 p.m. and it was still very early. She replied with annoyance that she would not open the section even if she was aware of the unavailability of seats. I told her that if she were in my place, she would have appreciated a little effort from the barista given that there were more than three hours before closing. She replied to me, “If I were in your place, I would leave without insisting on sitting down”, meaning that my insistence is, according to her, just heavy. Conclusion, I left without having been served... very disappointed knowing that before I was a regular customer.

The atmosphere in this café is very peaceful. Expensive food: $10-20 up to $20-30 depending on what you eat.
Don't have high expectations
that the employees will welcome you with enthusiasm and a big smile. Because that is not the case. The energy they have is what they will give you will be theirs: awkwardness this -->??) Some employees are kind, calm and respectful. There is one in particular who is mean and rude. I don't even have words to describe my many moments with her. As a customer.

I bought a hot chocolate this morning that was really unpleasant, nothing to do with hot chocolate, she prepared it with very, very light milk.

Horrible customer service

That morning, I bought a large hazelnut latte at the counter. the total had been around $9 with the $1 tip that I left despite the hasty and poor service of the cashier who was not able to wait to finish with her other customer to take my order . After being served by the supervisor at the end of the counter, I was surprised by the bad taste of the product that had been given to me. It's very rare that I decide to request a refund after purchasing a product and drinking about 1/8 of the latte. I went to the counter and asked the person in charge if it was possible to get a refund (with the greatest respect and kindness) since I was not satisfied with the product that had been returned to me. She refused me in a very disrespectful way - (while insulting me with assumptions that I was not able to afford a latte because it was too expensive and passive aggressive disgrace) she claimed that it was not had never happened before in the last ten years of his “career” at Van houte and that I had to just drink it because it was store policy. By doing a little research to see the restaurant's satisfaction comments, I was not surprised to see the messages of dissatisfaction that were subsequently written. I don't think my message is likely to have much impact here, but I hope it will serve as a clue to other customers to avoid this place at all costs!

You have to be careful to mention whether you want iced or hot coffee. They don't ask the question when purchasing and assume that you want hot. If you ever ask them to make it again, they will ask you to pay for a second coffee because for them it’s a loss. It's a pretty stingy service (especially for a simple error that can be resolved by asking a question). If you ever want a nice place to study and have a good coffee I recommend going to the café graine brûlée which is also close to Berri uqam.
