It was our first visit, and this adorable cat themed café instantly stole our hearts. Tucked away in the heart of Old Port, its the kind of place where you want to slow down, soak in cozy warm atmosphere with little vintage touches.
We ordered hot chocolate, which was perfectly comforting not overly sweet, just right for a cozy pause. They also have a lovely selection of ice creams and baked treats, making it hard to choose just one 😻

We walked in and we're greeted immediately with a warm smile. If you love cats, that have some cool gifts in there. A great place for an espresso or icecream.

Chat-Cholate in Montréal has great products, but the hours are honestly confusing and don’t seem to coordinate with when the actual store is open. I’ve come by during the “posted” hours only to find the place closed, which is frustrating—especially when you go out of your way to stop there. It makes it hard to plan a visit and doesn’t give a great impression of reliability.

The chocolate itself is good when you can actually get it, but the inconsistency with opening times really needs to be fixed.

CHAT-COLATE is easily one of the best ice cream shops in Montreal. The texture is ultra-creamy, the flavours are creative without being gimmicky, and classics (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) are perfectly balanced. I loved the depth of the chocolate and the bright fruitiness of the sorbets—so refreshing. Cones are crisp, portions are generous, and prices are fair.

Service is warm and efficient even when there’s a line, and the shop has a cozy, cheerful vibe that makes you want to linger. Bonus points for seasonal flavours and a few dairy-free options, so everyone in our group found something to love.

If you’re an ice-cream fan, put CHAT-COLATE at the top of your Montreal list. Highly recommended!

Too expensive for what it offers

Iced matcha latte with vanilla is SO GOOD. I highly recommend eating inside. Saw some AI art though and was disappointed 😾😿it’s very easy to tell so make sure to purchase from the authentic artists!

This is a locally owned, fun little cat themed café. On top of food, there is a lot of cat-y merchandise to consider being home or gifting to a loved one.
Food wise, there is the usual café fare, with delicious choices to make for each type. There are gelatos, ice creams and sorbets, coffees and coffee based drinks and fun crêpes! The cold offerings taste of quality ingredients with rich, authentic flavours. The coffees are freshly ground taste equally rich and flavourful. The crêpes are made to order, so they're warm and tasty.
Regarding service, it's as fast and efficient as it can be. Keep in mind that this is a small café and there are only one or two staff working at any one time, so if there is a rush, with a little patience, you will be rewarded with a friendly face and a delicious, made to order treat that will keep you coming back for more.

Don’t even bother going to Montreal if you’re not going to stop here.

THIS PICTURE IS A LIE!

This here table was nastier than a rat’s bottom on a Tuesday morning in July.
I sat on a ripped chair with sprinkles on it and a bit of chewed gum, which I assume was there for cushioning.

After moving to another seat out of pure disgust, I realized that the cushions were stained. The gaps between the wood in the table were nasty as well.

The lady that brought us our food put the bare utensils right on top of this aforementioned filth. The crépe was also touching the table as it was too big for the plate.

They also charged us more than what it said on the poorly written menu. Red flag!🚩🚩🚩

The entryway was also messy with an old curtain rod shoved to the side and reminiscent of a storage basement.

The only reason this place gets two stars instead of 1 is because of the flavor and portion size.

A broom and a toothpick to clean the gaps would have gone a long way.

Rustic vibes is not an excuse for filth.
