What's crazy to me is that something like this hasn't been open in the mile end for the last 80 years. This is exactly what our neighbourhood needed and just couldn't have been executed any better. The staff is incredibly friendly, the cooks are outstanding, and the vibes are, as the kids might say, immaculate. Not to mention that there are at least two Jakes. Our dog Earl also approves. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike.
Ashkenazi girl looking for a midday snack and stumbled upon Chez Greenberg. Had to go in, obviously— so glad I did.
From me, a real Jew, to the review readers: 10/10. I had a latke with cream cheese and a smoked salmon knish. Can’t wait to try everything else and bring my loved ones.

We ordered the Larry, an open faced split between lox and whitefish. The schmear had a quiet lemon note, made in house and not heavy. Roe on the whitefish was a smart touch. With lox, whitefish and roe you expect a salt bomb but it stayed balanced. The ingredients are high quality and some are organic. Service was warm and unforced, like stepping into a home kitchen. The owner is there and he cares. The staff moves with that energy. I’m going back for the Larry.
