Fantastic dinner at this small chef restaurant. The crispy egg and mushrooms were delightful, and so was the buratta on warm tomatoes. The fish and steak were great, but the start of the night was the French toast dessert. Wow.

Had a lovely dinner here with my son. The steak we both ate was probably the best I have ever had, definitely top 3. But that makes it sound like a steak restaurant when it is not. It’s an extremely elegant and well run French Canadian fine dining restaurant in the heart of Montreal. Wine was amazing and the service first class. I would recommend this place to anyone that likes good food.

It took 20 minutes to order our drinks and then another 30 to receive them. We did not get menus for over an hour. The food was delicious but there are only 4 main courses from which to choose. Food was very good, but will not be going back

We each ordered the 5 course dinner. Food was excellent. We also got the wine pairing to go with it. The pour I received with my main course was from the very bottom of the bottle and full of sediment. It was not drinkable. I notified them and was told this is normal. This may be normal if I purchased the bottle, but I didn't. I purchased one small glass of drinkable wine, which I did not receive. My bill was over 800 dollars. NOT acceptable. And I was not compensated at all for that glass of wine.

Exceptional 5 star service. Cocktails were original and tasty, which more than complimented tasty treats before the appetizers were served. The salmon tartare was the best I’ve ever had! My wife and I both had the steak with was cooked exactly to order and paired with an exquisite wine recommended by the steward. This restaurant is a must if you travel to Montreal.

We really enjoyed Chez Sophie. We called because the weather threatened to rain and they happily moved us inside. We ordered a la carte. First we had their version of a Japanese gin and tonic --delicious and light. Then they had a little fish sample and an amuse bouche. These were nice, though not so special. But the bread and flavored butter which they bring continually is excellent. I had the bone marrow as an appetizer and yes, it was oily but tasted marvelous and had a little baby lettuce with vinaigrette. My friend had the wrapped shrimp. For the main courses we had the scallops which he thought were very special and I chose the veal sweetbreads which were fabulous with two kinds of asparagus, miniature mushrooms and foie gras cream. It was superb. The sommelier was surprised we were only drinking one glass of wine each but ordered us a delicious white. We did not have dessert or very much wine so our meal was not wildly expensive. The service was charming all around. We were coddled and treated as if they were delighted to have us there. The shape of the restaurant is long and narrow so it has been designed in a streamlined manner. I thought it was handsomely done.

I found the service a little disorganized, we asked twice for bread and we did not get it, we thought that the young server lacked maturity, insight and follow up of its table and where they are. I am ready to pay a fair amount for my food with friends but I want a spotless service, knowledgable, friendly, discrete.... to be ahead of the clients needs.

La nourriture est excellente, le service moyen, ne nous a pas proposé de vin au verre, ne nous a pas proposé un changement de plat dans le menu dégustation. Le prix du choix de vin est trop élevé vu les quantités servies .

Chez Sophie is a restaurant of exception , the food is outstanding creative ,fresh made with local ingredients, and a beauty for the eye , served with excellence . It goes without saying that the prices follow. For any special occasion it is the place to go the terrace is small and pretty make reservation for outside it is worth the trip .

Time and your preferences dictate the agenda of the re visitation mode. I have returned to Chez Sophie several times a year for the past 10 years but for different reasons. Recently, my taste buds were challenged at Mon Lapin, voted the best restaurant in Canada, and at Alma in Outremont. Both have dishes in the form of tapas, and each presentation is artistic and savoury. And yet, I would never return to either. Chez Sophie still offers the classical 4-5 course meal which defies consumption. All the attributes of refinement and sublimation are present. The attentive and personalized component still exists at Chez Sophie in contrast to the more expedient display of talent by cyber chefs where the décor and atmosphere is more likely a virtual historical remnant than a complement of fine surroundings in a tango with the heavenly fare. At Chez Sophie the satiation barometer is at its crescendo, whereas the competition reflects innovation and famine without an obvious encore. Though none are cheap, Chez Sophie deserves it. A lovely meal - we had the tasting menu. A terrific wine from Hubert Lamy. The service was attentive but not disrupted.

We had the degustation menu. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Our favourite dish was the lobster ravioli paired with a rosé. Our waiter was tremendous. He was happy and helpful. Thank for a wonderful night.
