Food was below average. We had different pastas and they were very average. Tiramisu was really bad. Service was unprofessional and slow. Overall not recommend

We recently visited Da Emma after driving in from Ottawa, and another couple joined us from Toronto. The place itself is beautiful and has a great atmosphere, but unfortunately the food didn’t quite meet our expectations.
What really disappointed us was the service. Our waiter was friendly at first, but after he made a mistake with our appetizer and we mentioned it to the first staff member we saw, he came to our table and whispered that we should have told him directly and not cut into the appetizer before knowing, which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional.
To make things worse, the police showed up at the end of the night, and when we asked for the bill to be split, the waiter seemed surprised and simply told us to split it ourselves. Overall, while the setting is lovely, the food and service left us disappointed.

Le service a été incroyable nous étions au bar.De l'entrée au plat principal tout étaient délicieux. On y retourne dans deux semaines
Wonderful evening, celebrated the hubby's 60th birthday, small table of 5. Excellent food, excellent service...Serge, our waiter ,was so kind, attentive and funny too ! The food was fabulous , as always !!!
The roasted pig was outstanding, the service not notch, meatballs "fantastic" red sauce was perfect.
Da Emma does not disappoint. Housed in a beautiful historic building, it sets the tone for an elevated dining experience from the moment you arrive. A wall of photos showcasing the many celebrities who’ve dined here underscores the legacy of this Montréal institution. Quite possibly the city’s finest Italian restaurant, no small claim given the competition, it offers flawless dishes (don’t miss the meatballs), attentive staff, and the bonus of complimentary valet parking. Whether you’re planning a date night or celebrating a special occasion in Old Montréal, make a reservation, put on a nice outfit, and savour one of the city’s must try meals.

Exceptional food and service as always. I have been going to this restaurant for the past 10+ years. The deliciousness of their food never ceases to amaze me! I had the roasted lamb that just melted in you mouth and my collègues had shrimp. Loved every bite of our food.
Was disappointed in food quality: lamb was ok, when asked for side I opted out for potatoes or pasta, I ordered broccoli for extra $ and all of us that choose that option we were shocked

Restaurant Da Emma is Old Montréal romance at its best—stone-walled rooms, soft lighting, and that “hidden cellar” feel that makes dinner feel special. The menu is classic and comforting: velvety tomato sauces, perfectly al dente pastas, melt-in-your-mouth veal, and simple grilled fish done right. Have to try the blue cheese ravioli!!!! Portions are generous, service is warm and unhurried, and the Italian-leaning wine list pairs beautifully. We ended with a dreamy tiramisu and wished we’d saved more room. Tip: book ahead and ask for a table downstairs for the full ambiance. For a timeless, no-gimmicks Italian dinner, Da Emma absolutely delivers.

So... the restaurant is in a remote area of Old Montreal and could be considered a 250 year old cave/basement with an ambience of prolific proportions. Service was A1. The food was delicious... we had a delightful grilled salmon and lamb roast, both cooked to perfection. For the quality, the prices were decent.
Will definitely return.....

Things I enjoyed:
- Complimentary bruschetta
- Complimentary bread with good quality olive oil and vinegar
- The ambiance
- The mozzarella
Things I didn't enjoy:
- Our server was not warm or welcoming in the slightest
- The energy felt elitist
- Only providing one low end option for by-the-glass prosecco on the menu

If you’re looking for good quality home style Italian food, look no further. This restaurant is a classic and the food truly takes like an Italian grandmother made it from scratch at home! Do yourself a favour and come here!

Very lovely dishes, the burratta and sourdough was really great to start off The pasta after was fresh and refreshing reminding me of natural Italian cuisine. Looking forward to going back Bravo.
My first visit after hearing about this MTL institution for years. It did not disappoint .
