This review is based solely on our phone call to make reservations at this restaurant. We didn’t even make it to the restaurant since the staff member who picked up the phone was exceptionally rude and abrupt demeanour and stated she couldn’t accommodate 5 people since the tables only seat two—we asked if two tables could be put together to seat 4 and then put one chair on the end of the table and she said no and hung up.We figured she was just having a bad day and my friend who had eaten there before called and had the same rude treatment from this woman. We decided not to give them our business and ended up at a nicer restaurant with great service!

Gia Ba has amazing "non westernized" dishes. If you've never had chicken with chili and mushrooms, go run and try it. It's not a stir fry dish, it's a braised type of dish of chicken thighs in a spicy oily sauce with shitake mushrooms. It's one of the best dishes I've ever had and is pretty much all I order. If you look at the majority of poor reviews, they are coming from diners who had basic dishes like General Tao. I agree their version of General Tao isn't very good and I wish they didn't even have it on their menu. It doesn't go with the rest of their menu but I guess they're trying to please everyone. The Dan Dan Noodles are also very good. Stay away from the generic westernized dishes and you won't be disappointed.

By far, the best Asian place I've ever tried. I get takeout once a week. The food is delicious, fresh, and the chef and staff are so kind. My family, partner, and I are all hooked, making it a staple in our dining traditions. The savory favorites I always order include Brussels sprouts with walnuts that melt in your mouth, and the General Tao chicken, showcasing high-quality chicken, not overly breaded like in other places. Paired with their perfectly cooked rice, I'll never get tired of eating there. I highly recommend discovering this hidden

Excellent food. The chicken was one of the best ive ever had. The flavours in all the dishes was top notch. The dumplings in the wonton soup may have had too much wrapping.I must visit again and try multiple dishes and see the consistency of the wiality but I suspect it'll deserve a spot in my top chinese restaurants.

16$ for a flavourless fried rice

I've been looking for a place that serves authentic Schezwan poached fish, and THIS IS THE PLACE. We also had a plate of green beans with rice, and the flavours were beyond delicious. I can't recommend this place enough, we drove all the way from Plateau to here and it was well worth it. I felt bad for them because they were short staff so we couldn't eat there, but the food traveled super well, and they'll be back on track early september. Can't wait to go back, this place deserves way more attention compared to all the franchises on Monkland. I honestly don't understand why this gem is not more popular, maybe it will happen with time.

I had such a fantastic first experience here. I was running late to pick up the order that I placed near closing time. I was worried that they'd close up before I got there, so I called them to let them know, and their response was, "Don't worry, just be safe, we'll wait til you get here." I mean, how kind and thoughtful was that? Truly, made my night.
