My family and I enjoyed a night at Grinder yesterday… The hostess gave us the warmest welcome and was so quick on her feet—she had a very positive energy. The food matched its description perfectly—the Surf&turfs, in particular, was absolutely exceptional. To top it off, our waiter kindly offered us dessert, which was just as delightful. I strongly recommend this place.

First and last visit. The place looks upscale, but the experience didn’t live up to the hype. For a bill of $253 for two, we were served a single small steak, a bit of salad, two mojitos — and yes, I had to pay extra for the fries.
At that price point, the portions should be generous, and basics like fries shouldn’t come as an add-on. It felt more like we paid for the presentation than the food.
Disappointing overall. Montreal has many restaurants that deliver far better value and satisfaction for half the price.

We were greeted at Grinder by a warm hostess, who immediately put us at ease. In less than a minute, we were already at our table, where Léa, our waitress, was waiting for us. She turned out to be the best waitress I have ever met. As soon as we arrived, she asked us where we were from and struck up a conversation, which made the experience even more pleasant.
I know that this type of establishment has service standards to respect, but Léa was able to go beyond. She helped us choose our dishes with excellent and personalized suggestions. After the service, she came to our table several times to make sure everything was to our liking. His attention and constant smile really made the difference.
We also asked her for recommendations for speakeasies, and she promised to come back with a list of addresses. Fifteen minutes later, she was back with a paper containing several options to explore. As a conclusion, before leaving, she offered us shots (hot shots), a delicate touch.
In summary, the service was exceptional, the atmosphere warm and cozy. The staff demonstrated exemplary professionalism, but what truly elevated our experience was Léa. Her kindness, smile and dedication gave us the best service a waitress can offer.

The valet service was a lifesaver—finding parking in Montreal can be a challenge, so it made our visit even smoother. Special shoutout to our server, Benjamin, who guided us effortlessly through the menu and made sure we had everything we needed.
We ordered the Tomahawk for three, which came with lobster, shrimp, scallops, and three side dishes. The cheddar mash was incredible—a must-have! The steak was perfectly seasoned, and every bite was full of flavor. I’d happily order it again.
Portion-wise, it was just right for two people (or maybe we just have a hearty appetite, haha!). For dessert, we went with Benjamin’s recommendation, a Montreal favorite. I don’t remember the name, but it was a delightful warm dessert paired with cold ice cream—a perfect combination.
To top it all off, we were treated to complimentary espresso shots, a wonderful way to end the meal.
