Not a good environment whatsoever. The bartender ignored me and my friends alll night. But more importantly the open mic night was incredibly sexist and only allowed men on stage. When we complained and asked when our friend would be up next, the guy in charge caressed her arm and told her that she’ll be called when she’s called and that the order of the sign up list didn’t matter. When we began to grab our stuff and go the man called her name but we were already upset and leaving so we told him she wouldn’t be going up. The man then proceeded to blame her for not performing and was saying negative things about her over the microphone. Anywho I’d only go if I were a man and didn’t care about how women were treated.

Bartender looked grumpy
The best pub in Montreal! Great people, great music, great booze.
Have to know the vibe in advance or enjoy that type of bar scene. Not for everyone, but it's served by friendly staff and most regulars are the same.
It's a Montreal downtown staple bar for locals. Definitely not the same vibe as the tourist spots a block over.

Great spot, professionals
Great evening. Other than the puke in the toilet that evening which was disgusting. The service, live music and drinks made it worthwhile.
The bar tender was super mean to us. I didn’t tip him because I am a foreigner and I am getting used to that system. That is totally my fault. At first he looked at me super angry since I didn’t tip him. So me and my friends apologised to him. I proposed him to repay the price of my drink so that I can tip him because I didn’t have cash on me. He didn’t accept. My friends tipped him and we all said sorry. But despite our efforts, he was really mean to us and his tone was really rude. He told me “this is not your first time, we know you anyway” as if I was a criminal or something he made me feel super bad. The whole idea of going to a bar is to chill after a work day. But the way he was treating us made me feel really nervous. When my friend went to talk to him afterwards he didn’t apologise either about his tone. There is no reason to be mean with people, especially with customers.
Replay music! Guiness and st Patrick's is a wonderful time to have fun and let go of your worries, listening to live music 😀
