Have to know the vibe in advance or enjoy that type of bar scene. Not for everyone, but it's served by friendly staff and most regulars are the same. It's a Montreal downtown staple bar for locals. Definitely not the same vibe as the tourist spots a block over.

The bar tender was super mean to us. I didn’t tip him because I am a foreigner and I am getting used to that system. That is totally my fault. At first he looked at me super angry since I didn’t tip him. So me and my friends apologised to him. I proposed him to repay the price of my drink so that I can tip him because I didn’t have cash on me. He didn’t accept. My friends tipped him and we all said sorry. But despite our efforts, he was really mean to us and his tone was really rude. He told me “this is not your first time, we know you anyway” as if I was a criminal or something he made me feel super bad. The whole idea of going to a bar is to chill after a work day. But the way he was treating us made me feel really nervous. When my friend went to talk to him afterwards he didn’t apologise either about his tone. There is no reason to be mean with people, especially with customers.

Love this bar! Great atmosphere - live music was really fun and friendly, warm neighborhood pub feel. The service was excellent - both bartenders I had were courteous and speedy. I definitely recommend it!
Holy Moley this place is Fantastic! The staff and other patrons are all wonderful people. Although I think Nick the bartender cheats at arm wrestling . Will be my go-to spot whenever I’m in Montreal. Trivia night was a blast (thanks Michael) . No food so we ordered pizza delivery from our favourite place. Amazing spot! Sparky

I just lost one of the my favorite bar because of this bartender. I took my friend to this bar first time to celebrate smth and the bartender was really rude. First he didnt even says hi back and didnt give us menu. We wanted some nice cocktail and requested something but he said he does not have the ingredient which was fine. And he told us to go to OTHER bar to find nice cocktail basically he kicked us out. Even though it was 9pm and ppl still sitting & having their drink. It was my first bar in Montreal since i moved here recently and i came here even on my birthday. I m really sad that he ruined my good memory here cause I know i will never go to this bar again
