Asparagus salad and octopus are a definite must. A large group was present last night which I estimate added a solid hour to our visit. 4 hours for supper is a little much, however the staff apologized and offered a glass of port wine at the end

The grilled octopus tapa was delicious. It was highly recommended in most of the reviews I read, and for good reason. Texture and flavours were great. I also got a main and it ended up being too much food for me, but no regrets. For my main, I got the Alaskan Black Cod. The sauce paired nicely and fish was nicely cooked. But my first couple of bites were too salty and overpowered the fish itself. There was salt sprinkled on the skin. Since it came with the fish, my assumption was I can eat the skin with the meat. When I told the server, she told me most people eat it with the skin off. That's fine if that's a preference. I personally find it weird that the main part of the dish would come with something I shouldn't eat. I was too full for dessert so I didn't order anything, but my server brought me a dessert tasting platter since she got the sense I didn't enjoy my main as much as my appetizer. I really appreciated this gesture. All the staff were very attentive and kind. Even though I sat at the bar during busy dinner hours, I felt like I was looked after. Recommend this place for any dining occasion

Had their signature octopus entree, it was so charred from the grill it tasted burnt along with being dried and tough lacking in flavour. I politely mentioned this to the server when asked if everything was ok. He quickly apologized and replaced it with another one. The second one was slightly warm with the underneath cold,also very mushy and tasted as if it had been boiled which I know that’s how they tenderize it but was basically tasteless. My starter was the filet mignon carpaccio, which was overwhelmed with out of date anchovies. I’ve had theses dishes in other restaurants but theses dishes were a huge disappointment especially when you pay such high prices you expect quality and fresh ingredients. Service was excellent.

Our group recently had the pleasure of dining at Helena in Old Montreal, and it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. What truly set Helena apart was the impeccable service. The staff were incredibly attentive, welcoming, and remarkably flexible with our various requests, making us feel completely catered to throughout the evening.
The food itself was a highlight. Every dish showcased super fresh ingredients, and the seasoning was simply perfect – enhancing the natural flavors without overpowering them. A must try is the Octopus or the seasonal Asparagus (or both).
If you're looking for a restaurant in Montreal that combines exceptional, accommodating service with delicious, fresh, and perfectly seasoned food, Helena is an absolute must-try. We all left thoroughly impressed and wholeheartedly recommend it! We'll definitely be back.

I find it hard to suggest an outstanding 5 star review for any fine dining establishment as there always seems to be something missing to deserve such a strong accolade. Our experience at Helena's for a key industry retirement dinner couldn't have been at a better place. Michelle looked after us for the evening and did an absolutely beautiful job suggesting dishes and meeting our needs. The food was exquisite and the wine selection perfect. Helena's definitely is in our top 5 restaurants Coast to Coast. Thank you for such a great night....we'll be back for sure! best regards Perry
A beautiful and stylish Portuguese restaurant! The black cod was absolutely delicious, and the churros melted in my mouth. I also loved the rich taste of the red wine “Dona Maria” .. it was the perfect pairing for me. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Quelle belle soirée nous avons passé! Le service est excellent, Vincent nous a très bien conseillé pour la nourriture, les croquettes de morue et le plat de fruits de mer pour deux était succulent. C'est aussi lui qui nous a conseillé l'apéro et le vin, tout était succulent!

The restaurant was busy but we had a quiet table for four in the rear dining room. Service was friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. The music was a little loud at one point, although it seemed to quiet down after while. We prefer quiet. This was our second visit to Helena's and we will be happy to revisit on another occasion.
