The restaurant has a pleasant layout and a comfortable atmosphere—thankfully not too loud, which made for a relaxed dining experience. However, the service left something to be desired. While our server was clearly inexperienced, they were polite and made a genuine effort, which I appreciated.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t justify the high prices. The mussels had an overpowering smell that made them unappetizing, and the French fries were soggy and greasy. The salmon tartare had potential, but the quality of the fish didn’t seem particularly fresh.
The wine list was average—nothing remarkable—but be sure to double-check prices. Our check listed a different price for the bottle than what was shown on the menu, which was a bit frustrating.
Overall, while the space is inviting, the experience didn’t live up to expectations, especially considering the cost.
Beautiful French bistro
Tried the beef cheek soooo tender
And the duck salad was also very nice!
Loved the tall bartender with beard, think his name was Mike, gave us a great service!!
Perfect from the beginning to the end. The hostess was welcoming like to her own home. The waiter was thoughtful and attentive. The food was most delicious.
Atmosphere and service were excellent. I ordered a steak and it was way overdone. The soup tasted like Campbell. The chocolate mousse was excellent though.
Buzzy and loud with excellent food and attentive, pleasant service. The menu is built around Montreal style French cuisine with many seafood and meat choices, plus a few offerings for vegetarians.
There is a full bar service and a varied wine list.
We went for a family lunch (spanning ages 3 to 90 years!) and everyone found something to their liking.
The shaved endive salad was crisp and perfectly dressed. The lunch portion was more than adequate.
The salmon tartare though an appetizer portion was big enough for lunch, and then done. It was beautifully presented and delicious.
The potato gnocchi was pan fried, tossed with vegetables, and served with a creamy sauce. It was satisfyingly chewy and the flavors were subtle but perfect.
Definitely a keeper.
Wheelchair accessibility: From the street level there are about 8-10 steps to get into the restaurant.

Very good restaurant, but my bib went a little yoyo: burnt on the outside and still blue on the inside. It looks like she hasn't found her cooking point...

I recently dined at a fantastic restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. I was fortunate enough to sit by the window on a rainy day, which created the perfect ambiance—there's something so relaxing about watching the rain while enjoying a meal. The food was equally impressive. I started with the French onion soup, which was rich and flavorful, with just the right balance of savory and sweet. For the entrée, I opted for the tartare de saumon, and it did not disappoint—fresh, vibrant, and perfectly seasoned. Overall, a delightful experience, and I highly recommend both the soup and the tartare de saumon for anyone visiting.

A perfect spot for a family dinner. Excellent service. Somehow the vibe is just right: not too formal, not too casual. Classic menu options with a touch of flair.

What can we say about this legendary restaurant that hasn't already been said about these partners. Can we call ourselves Montrealers if we don't visit this place. Chef, always delicious! Service "a1".

Service for lunch was slow and ok. Very polite. The hot coco was like 4 sips and cold. The French onion soup was good, and fish and chips were just ok.

Nice room, efficient servers - we were a party of 10 - but goodness the food. The flavourful salad was the high point of the meal, but might have served three - is this the Americanization of brasserie servings? The soup was thin, bland and instantly forgettable; the confit de canard looked forlorn and overcooked in a vast forest of arugula, had little flavour and no succulence and the roast potatoes underneath were meagre and hard to locate in all that foliage. A lackluster fruit salad with a tiny dollop of sherbet made dessert hardly worth the effort. 'Disappointing' is the polite term for what Holder gets away with.

We picked Holder for is location to our hotel, but ended up wanting to go back because it was fantastic. We sat at the bar while waiting for our table and the bar staff were great. The food at dinner was excellent. The bison mozzarella appetizer was great; duck confit, and pepperedelle dinners amazing; and the creme Brule desert was one of the best I've ever had. The prices were very reasonable as well
