Amazing experience with my family at this lovely mom-and-pop sushi joint. The food was exquisite, the service was excellent and we were accommodated so well by the two lovely elderly people working there, who I’m assuming are the owners. It was an overall 10/10 experience, please go and support this fantastic small business!!

Good food and atmosphere, the most incredible and kind owners. Let us stay 30 minutes past closing to finish our food and threw in a couple extra complimentary dishes.

Beautiful service, very nice owners and pretty classical music beside the good quality slices of fish for a really reasonable price! Will be going back!

Really delicious, fresh sushi.
Delicious, fresh and affordable. Cute spot for sit in or take out. I’m just in town for the week and I’ve had it several times - I’ll miss it when I’m gone!

January 2nd: A Reflection on Respect and Gratitude
At the start of the New Year, I dined at Ichi-Bon Sushi and witnessed something that moved me to speak out. It was a busy mealtime, and the restaurant was bustling. Amid the activity, I noticed two elderly individuals, both in their 70s, tirelessly attending to customers. Later, I learned they were the owners.
These two worked with smiles on their faces, providing attentive and thoughtful service—refilling drinks and patiently addressing every request without a single complaint. They clearly poured their hearts into ensuring every guest felt comfortable and cared for.
However, one gentleman chose to leave no tip when settling the bill. While tipping is not mandatory in Canada, it is a basic acknowledgment of and gratitude for the hard work of service staff—especially for individuals like this elderly couple. They not only provided excellent service but also extended warmth, patience, and kindness. Yet, this gentleman’s decision seemed to diminish their efforts, as though their hard work was insignificant.
Perhaps he believed paying the bill was enough, but have you ever considered the physical and emotional toll on a couple in their 70s, working hard every day to meet the needs of their customers? Their tireless dedication surely deserves at least a small token of appreciation and respect.
The few dollars saved might have felt negligible to him, but for this couple, it could have meant recognition for their labor and a small but meaningful source of encouragement.
I hope this gentleman will reflect on his actions that day. In this world, we all need mutual respect and kindness. A tip is more than just money—it is a gesture of gratitude and support for those who work hard to serve us.
In the future, wherever you go, I urge you to choose a kinder and more considerate approach toward those who serve you. I witnessed the entire incident, and this gentleman adamantly refused to leave a tip in any form.
Let us remember that a little kindness goes a long way, and gratitude costs nothing but means everything.

Me and my coworker went there for lunch. Fresh sushi, great ambiance. When don’t went to pay for my share and included my tip… however my friend has issues with the tap was trying to add it but pressed ok by mistake. She literally called us back and demand we give a tip. We explained the issue bc I paid my tip but my friend didn’t. She demanded we give cash but my friend only had her phone. The lady even insisted that she will void the transaction only to give her tip. At this point everyone was watching. My coworker was will to do a transaction JUST for the tip. The lady demanded we not leave without tip. At that point I searched and happen to have toonie and dropped it in her basket. Sarcastically in the end she smile and said have a great day. Since when is Tipping mandatory? It was a mistake

Really lovely family-run place. The sushi rolls are big, and very generous with the fillings (it's not the 80%rice ratio you can find in other places). I went there several evenings in a row while visiting Montreal, and everything was very tasty. Only the dumpling soup was a bit bland and disapointing.
