Wow, this place was incredible. Great service, super tasty food, we got the ribeye and the hot stone to cook it on was fun. Also had the albacore with wasabi vinaigrette and the pork belly skewers with bbq sauce. Delicious! The hello kitty drink was pureed magic. The complimentary hot tea was nice since it was cold and wet outside. Definitely recommend Imadake!

I read that this is one of the best izakayas in Montreal but that was not my experience at all. There wasn't anything authentic about the food and there was something off about every dish. It felt like amateur hour in the kitchen. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and ramen. The "okay" dishes were the shrimp mayo and yukke, though both lacked refinement. The shrimps were big and fried well, but the pieces of nuts were chunky and odd. The yukke was seasoned well but the strands of beef made it look like it had been put through a meat grinder without being cut properly. It was just weird to be eating long, thick stings of beef.Everything else went downhill from there. The karaage was over fried, dry and not juicy. The okonomiyaki was literally pancake batter with a few tiny pieces of tako - it tasted like a bunch of takoyaki flattened into a pancake shape. The gindara cod was cooked well, but it was such a small piece and the marinade was overly sweet with no other flavour. It felt so homecooked. The worst offender was the ramen. We waited so long for this that we weren't really hungry anymore. But this has got to be the worst ramen I've eaten in my life. The broth was so thick and heavy that it tasted more like a stew. The noodles were undercooked and tasted like spaghetti. The chashu slices did not taste fresh. Neither of us could eat more than a few bites because it was just so bad!Honestly, my experience here has scarred me from trying out other Japanese places in Montreal if this is considered one of the "best"...

A Wonderful Japanese Izakaya. Delicious food, variety of drink options, sake bombs, great atmosphere. Coat check at the front for easy sitting (chairs do not have backs but are very comfortable). All the staff are amazing. Cant wait to stop back next time I’m in town. Recommend!

We went to dine in. Was greeted nicely at the start. Food was served at decent times initially. We tried placing the full order at the same time but the server suggested to wait and order once we finish main course. Requested for cutlery that never arrived. Ordered dessert and waited for 50min for them to bring out a cheesecake. We wanted to cancel the dessert and pay and leave. Server kept ignoring us and we kept waiting. Atmosphere was ok. Very crowded and loud but that’s expected. Overall a 2 star experience. Wouldn’t be coming back with the service we received.
My visit to Imadake Izakaya was frustratingly overshadowed by painfully slow service. Orders were taken at a snail's pace, and the wait for food was excruciating, with zero communication from the staff about the delays. Although the food was passable, the service was inexcusably sluggish, souring the entire experience. This restaurant needs to drastically improve its service speed or risk turning away more customers. I am highly disappointed and unlikely to return.
