Went in with high expectations given the rave reviews and price points and unfortunately they missed the mark. We ordered a variety of apps, makis and nigiris. The curry maki is too over spiced and some of the nigiris were not made properly (too much wasabi in some) and just inconsistent. The cod for $28 is extremely small - enough for about 1 or 2 bites. Given the price point, it is not worth a visit.

Jun I offers a large variety of amazing and delicious sushi. I recommand ordering from the Tobuketsumaki section of the menu as it represents their specialty.
The salle à manger section is calm and quiet making it the perfect ambiance for a date night.
The alcohol menu offers a wide selection of wine, saké, beers ans cocktails.

We had an incredible experience at Jun I. The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. You can really tell the quality is top-notch. The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. Everything from start to finish was on point. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience in Montreal!

I do not recommend this restaurant at all. The owner/ manager has a delusionnal powertrip. I saw him screamed and throwing a tantrum towards his employees. He was swearing all over the restaurant. My family and I will never encourage this kind behaviour in a work context towards his subordinates. 0 stars will never come back!

For $300 for a two person Omakase, I wasn't expecting a fish bone in my spicy salmon tuna/salmon dish. I mentioned it to the server, and nothing was done about it. Of the 6 - 7 dishes I got, the octopus was delicious but the rest were pretty average in flavor. You'd get more value going to a sushi buffet in my opinion.

Phenomenal. We ordered some sake, a lunch tasting menu and an assortment of sushi rolls. Everything was amazing - food, service, atmosphere.

Wow! Stellar restaurant! Amazing sushi, actually the best in Montreal!!
Simply amazing! The staff is very welcoming, service impeccable and the food was incredible. I would recommend this venue for romantic night out, a quiet evening, a celebration. Basically anytime is a great time! Great for lunch, dinner and takeout option.

Although a bit expensive, the portions and the quality of the food makes up for the price. Their omakase comes with 3 appetisers, 15 pieces of sushi and a dessert for around 120$. The pieces of sushi were quite big and the cut of fishes were quite generous. I especially liked their Funny Maki because there was a great contrast in the temperature which made it so unique and delicious. I was surprised because I usually don't like fried sushi that much. As for the appetisers, I feel like the first two dishes were a bit too sour which overwhelmed the flavours of the ingredients but their octopus appetiser had a great balance of sweetness and saltiness which made it so wonderful. The quality of the ingredients is amazing, each slice was really fresh and I especially enjoyed the fresh scallop sushi which had a great seafood sweetness to it. The service was superb. The waiters and waitresses were all extremely patient and professional, taking the time to explain each dish while they were serving it to the table. Even though the place was quite fancy with the minimalistic interior decors, I feel like the semi casual atmosphere fits the place extremely well and it was pretty easy to talk at our table until later at night when the restaurant was more crowded, I felt like we had to shout a bit to be heard.

Went to Jun I with high expectations. Overall, it was a good experience, though not outstanding considering the premium pricing.

The sushi quality is excellent, with fresh, tasty, and fatty cuts of fish—definitely among the better sushi spots in Montreal. My personal highlight was the curry sushi, which stood out as particularly delicious.

However, service was friendly but slow and somewhat disorganized. Our group of six ended up staying for almost three hours, partly due to long wait times between courses. Some dishes arrived unevenly, leaving some of us without food for extended periods.

Desserts were enjoyable, but nothing exceptional.

One notable issue was the soy sauce, which our entire group found overly salty and concentrated. It detracted somewhat from the sushi’s delicate flavors.

Despite these points, Jun I is still a solid choice for a high-end sushi dinner with friends, just adjust your expectations accordingly.

The food was excellent—no complaints there. However, the service left a lot to be desired. We waited over an hour for our meals and ended up spending nearly four hours at the restaurant. For a group of six, the timing was off—some of us received our food while others were still waiting. It definitely affected the overall experience. That said, the restaurant had a great vibe, and the food was truly worth the wait.

We tried this restaurant with high expectations—and a bill to match (over $100 per person). We ordered the Sushi Moriawase, which came beautifully presented and included some nicely prepared nigiri and a standout hand roll—light, fresh, and well-balanced in flavor. Definitely one of the highlights.

However, the portion was quite small, and even after adding some à la carte sushi (like a crab one that sadly missed the mark), we left still feeling hungry and ended up grabbing more food afterward. For the price, we expected not only high quality (which was just decent) but also a more satisfying experience overall. If you order the Omakase along with à la carte sushi, I think you might leave satisfied.

The service and ambiance were okay.

There's a lot of restaurants in the city but this institution is just different. Hands down the best sushis in town but it's so much more than that. The omakase is a memorable experience. My wife and I had the privilege to be serve plates that we're as amazing as the staff in place.
Everything was exceptional.
