I ordered the shrimp dombré thinking of finding the dish from home… Guadeloupe!
Unfortunately I was more than disappointed to have received this dish with cocktail shrimp... I can understand that with inflation surely the final price would have been higher I would have preferred to pay more and have real shrimp in my dish!
The planter cocktail was too diluted (maybe too much ice cubes…)
Cod Accras too much batter vs cod.
I was delighted to have discovered a West Indian restaurant nearby…

My friend and I were there last saturday , the resto was quite empty near 7pm. Unfortunately my friend and I were both food poisoned it is quite dissapointing because other than that the food tasted good and the cocktails were very delicious. I wont be going back, but wish this resto the best of luck and hopefully to review their sanitation or cuisine proceedures to see what went wrong would be a great idea.

It's was good. I was probably expecting a little more... I feel the portions are too small. We had the menu degustation for 2, and we left a little hungry. Service was slow, but it's expected with a Caribbean vibe restaurant. I would def go back for drinks, though the cocktails were super good!!!
My other friend had the poutine it was good the flavors were amazing, that was a good portion of poutine but it wasn't hot!!

The cocktails are delicious. The food is good but not excellent as expected. Some presentations need to be revised. That doesn't mean it might be worth trying again. The server was very patient and smiling.

Delicious food, unique and tasty beverage: all homemade. 🥰
Adapts very well for gluten-free and dairy-free. Even has a fryer in an independent kitchen for gluten-free. He replaces wheat flour with cassava flour in certain dishes.
I'm going back soon, that's for sure!!!
We loved it!!!!

A place full of potential however the experience we had was very disappointing. The restaurant was at capacity and there was only 1 server.
1. Cuisine: 4 out of 12 took the tasting menu (3 courses).
1.1 The snacks were good
1.2 The piece of meat from the main course: The 4 people with the piece of beef were not able to cut or chew the meat. It was not a nice piece, I am not referring to the quantity, but rather to the quality of the piece of meat, only sinews and without a meat knife.
Our piece of meat was replaced by pork griot which was really good.
2. The service: The person in place did his best but could not provide. So there was a considerable delay between dishes. We were never asked if we needed anything. We asked for water and the waiter never came back. The glasses on the table were never removed or filled with water so there were, on our small round cocktail tables, all our glasses, i.e. the glasses of all the cocktails previously consumed.
And we never had the desserts that came with the tasting menu.
3. Atmosphere: Good music and beautiful decor. Other than the fact that there was an influencer who illuminated and blinded those around her with her cinema light to make videos, it was good.
Mention :
Thank you for reacting by replacing our meat with griot.
Thanks for the adjustments on the invoices for all the inconveniences. I can easily see why this place could become the neighborhood spot not to be missed.
I hope they will be able to adjust the draft when the restaurant is at capacity, because the potential is there, but unfortunately the experience trumped everything else and it was a failure for us.

Very ordinary food but above all very expensive for nothing. Any neighborhood Caribbean restaurant is much better for a better price.
Bad service on top of that…. Unfortunately I do not recommend this restaurant in any way.

The food was good. The accras, however, were a little too soaked in oil and unfortunately much too expensive for 3 small pieces, it would take 4 accras for the price to be justified a little more... so I'm removing a star because of the price.
Caribbean music is good.
A little extra effort in the decoration would be appreciated (pot holders instead of plastic plant pots, why not small lanterns too or a few small colorful pictures).
The presentation of the dishes is beautiful. The service is good.
These positive reviews must have been left by the owners’ friends or I went on a horribly bad night.
The server seemed like he was filling in and didn’t care much to do more than the bare minimum. That would’ve be okay since he wasn’t outright rude or disrespectful but then the food was just bad.
I’ve had Caribbean food across numerous islands. I’ve had great Caribbean food in the GTA. The food at Kalysta tries to put a twist on things and it doesn’t work. Not only is the flavour lacking but the meat was dry, the rice was rubbery and even something as basic as plantains missed the mark.
Do not waste your money.

Restaurantji Recommends
The server was great, but the food was very disappointing. We ordered the jerk chicken poutine, which sat in a bowl of oil. Then we also wanted to try the recommendation, so we ordered the tuna tataki and ceviche. They both were on the warm side, as if it was not stored well or as it has been sitting out of the fridge for a while. We found a scale in the ceviche. The tuna tataki didn’t even look the same as the pictures posted. We have tried tataki and ceviche before, which was why we wanted to try it here. The server quickly took initiative and offered to replace the items with something else, but didn’t accept because we were not sure if the rest would have been okay. I had a sour kalysta cocktail which was okay.

Honestly I don't know how they manage to get so many positive comments! I am really FOR black business but the service must still be of quality! This was not the case at all! The rice was not even seasoned, the chicken was the same and also had a weird taste as if the expiration date had been passed. The quantity of dishes are so minimal for the price paid. FLEE this restaurant
