Visited just two days before the cafe closing down. John and the mocchachino he served will always be my favourite. The cookies here are one of the best ones I have ever had. I’m really sad that this place is no longer running. For anyone wondering, since march 25th, Kokkino has closed its doors.
Too bad this place is now closed - was a fantastic spot for great coffee and food as well as a welcoming owner.
I've come here a few times over the past month, and it's already become one of my favorite cafés in Montreal. The coffee is strong and good, the breakfast sandwiches are outstanding, and the owner is kind and welcoming in a way you rarely see nowadays. If you're in the NDG area, it's definitely worth your time to stop by.
Charging over 5 bucks for the iced latte, only to realise he puts in instant coffee...the girls comment below is right, you cant put instant coffee in a latte, charge over 5 bucks and call it a real latte.EDIT RESPONDING TO OWNER:It seems you are avoiding my review mentioning you put instant coffee in am ICED LATTE. Nobody spoke about a frappe or a fredo. Read my review i mentionned that you put INSTANT COFFEE in an ICED LATTE and charged me over 5 bucks for it. What a fraud
can attest that every nice thing being said about this gem of a café is true! warm welcome & ambiance, enticing menu, helpful suggestions, reasonable prices, great place to relax & enjoy good food & good conversation. will def. be back!

They make a wonderful cafe frappe. This place is a little out of the way for me but occasionally I plan my errands along the same route to pick up my coffee boost.
The spanakopita is excellent and the owner is a really friendly guy. The vibe is perfect for taking some down time to relax on your own or to have a casual chat. The music is not too loud and the overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
How had I never discovered this café before today? I had a lovely iced tea and an apple turnover like the ones in my childhood with the salted butter in the pastry bringing out the sweetness of the filling. But the owner is truly welcoming! I love the vibe and cannot say enough good about Kokkino café.
We stopped in for breakfast and met the friendliest host! He was so welcoming and the breakfast he made us - egg and bacon breakfast sandwich and a tomato sandwich - along with great coffee, got our day off to. a great start. An excellent little place!
The sign on the window is a bit faded and I walked right by it. There are a few tables outside. I met a friend indoors. Very friendly service, great coffee, cappuccino. Tried the homemade carrot cake, a good size slice and it tasted wonderful, I love it when it is made with nuts and without raisins. Nice atmosphere.

I was early for an appointment so I dropped in for a quick bite and was greeted with such lovely hospitality ?. The gentleman behind the counter complimented my Mandalorian tshirt and was the friendliest ever! Bagel & iced coffee were delish and the vibe of the café was so nice and welcoming. Will definitely be back ☕️☕️.
My son Jason and I spent a week together in Montreal and on our first day, by sheer accident, we stumbled upon Kokkino Café at Sherbrooke. Being a Philhellene I was thrilled to meet the owner Giannis / John / Jean and his father. John must be the best host in the trade. Whether you go for espresso, cappuccino or a Greek “frappé” (a “nescafé on the rocks” not to be confused with the Italian “freddo”), the coffee is just fantastic. John also has a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes, salads, sandwiches, bagels, frittata, soup, Greek specialties lije spanakopita (spinach roll), tiropita (cheese roll), briam (aubergine dish) and of course various Greek sweets - all delicious and prepared with live and skill. The atmosphere is just amazing, reminding me of “Cheers” where everybody seems to know each other or gets to know each other, and John is the Mastermind connecting everyone and everything (the human equivalent of the Delphian “omphalos” - don’t render this in French!). If you happen to be in the neighbourhood this is the one and only place to stop by. Nα είστε πάντα καλά καλέ μου φίλε Γιάννη! Μαρκ
An institution in NDG. Who can get forget the welcoming nature of the owner and the coffee is great! It’s one of my happy places.
Really nice cafe to work or chill in, the food is great (cookies are amazing) and so is the owner!
We were there today for first time and honestly I did not expect much but the tastey sandwiches, sweetes and cuppacino totally suprised me . Everything was so delicous, voice of Chales Aznavour in la boheme muice and good smell of coffee took me to good memories of the past back in home. The guy there was cool and caring. we will go there again for sure
