The food and service were very good but a bit pricey for what you get, in my opinion. Overall, we enjoyed it.

If you're looking for a classic comfort food with a twist, La Baraque Resto Bar hits the mark. This cozy restaurant serves up a selection of dishes, but two standouts from the menu for us are their Hamburger La Baraque and Smoked Meat Sandwich.
The patty of the burger is juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. It’s got that classic grilled flavor, but it’s not overly greasy. The bun is soft but sturdy enough to hold everything together—no soggy mess here. What sets this burger apart is the toppings: fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, mushroom and peppers that balance the richness of the beef. The fries on the side? Perfectly crispy, golden brown, and seasoned just right.
Now, let’s talk about the Smoked Meat Club. If you’re a fan of tender, smoky meat, this is the dish for you. The meat is infused with a rich, smoky flavor that’s downright tasty!
Whether you're in the mood for a burger that hits all the right notes or a smoky, savory sandwich that will leave you craving more, this resto bar delivers on both fronts. Definitely worth a visit!
To the waitress who served us today with a BIG SMILE … Thank you !

The server was the worst and the poutine really bad. I don’t even know if the meat is still consumable. Plus the server is doing « jokes » on people birthday. Why ? He’s not funny, and don’t know people who’s joking to

AVOID THIS PLACE!
I wasn’t present during the incident, but I know and trust the people who were there, and I believe their account.
During a birthday dinner at this bar, a server sang an outdated version of the Happy Birthday song — one that included lines like “YOU belong to the ZOO” and “you look like a MONKEY” — to a Black woman. Understandably, this made her and everyone at the table feel deeply uncomfortable and disrespected. When they tried to express how hurtful it was, the server showed no concern. They later learned that this employee also had a history of drinking during work hours.
The owner was contacted and did not take any real action beyond asking the server to make a phone call apology. There was no meaningful follow-up — no commitment to address the harm caused, no training or accountability plan, and not even a gesture of goodwill.
Friends of mine had a terrible experience at this restaurant. They visited the establishment to celebrate our friend’s birthday and a waiter thought it was a good idea to sing a zoo birthday song to our black friend (note that the whole party was black too). When they called out the waiter he became defensive. Moreover, the owner took no action whatsoever to resolve the situation and injury caused.

Whether or not this version of the song has been used before doesn’t excuse how tone-deaf and inappropriate it is — especially in that context. Businesses have a responsibility to create safe, welcoming environments. This restaurant failed to do that, and I support my friend in sharing her story.

I came to resto la baraque to celebrate my birthday, expecting a joyful evening with friends. What started as a great night quickly turned into an uncomfortable and painful experience.
At the end of our meal, my friends sang “Happy Birthday” to me in French. A server offered to sing it again in English but instead of the standard lyrics, he sang:
“Happy Birthday to you,
You belong to the zoo,
Because you look like a monkey,
Happy Birthday to you.”
I’m a Black woman. Everyone at my table was Black. It’s not hard to imagine how hearing those words in that context made us feel. My smile dropped instantly. I was humiliated and hurt not just by the words, but by the fact that it happened so casually, in public, while other guests were watching. The restaurant went silent. That speaks volumes.
My friends immediately addressed the situation and told the server how inappropriate and harmful that version of the song was, especially given the racial dynamics. His response? Complete indifference. He dismissed our concerns and walked away.
We later contacted the owner, who told us that the server in question had a habit of drinking during work hours. That alone is alarming. The owner said he would investigate, and eventually had the server call us to apologize. But no further action was taken. No clear plan to address the situation. No offer of a gesture or acknowledgment. No sign of accountability.
Whether or not this version of the song was once common doesn’t change the fact that it’s offensive and deeply inappropriate in this context. Intent does not cancel out impact and when something causes visible discomfort or emotional harm, it should be taken seriously. That’s not what happened here.
We gave the restaurant a chance to respond with care and professionalism, and they failed. This is why I’m sharing my experience publicly: to raise awareness and encourage others to think carefully before supporting a business that doesn’t prioritize respect and inclusivity.

At El Pequeño bar, during a birthday dinner, a server sang a version of “Happy Birthday” with racist lines like “you belong to the zoo” and “you look like a monkey” directed at a Black woman. She and the table were understandably hurt and uncomfortable.
When they spoke up, the server showed no concern. The owner was contacted but offered no real accountability just a suggested phone call apology. No follow-up, no action.

We did the smoked meat spaghetti and routine. Both were incredible! The homemade gravy and sauce is absolutely delicious.
