Incredibly friendly service in a cozy bar with board games and well crafted cocktails

We came here expecting to play games for a couple of hours, and potentially order a little something to snack on.
We had been to Randolph many times in the past, and normally just paid the entrance fee, played a couple of games, then left. We were never pressured to order drinks, food, or tip the employees.
The vibe was entirely different here. We were seated and the menu was explained to us. We said we would start with water. Waiter came back and asked if we were ready to order. We said that we wanted to play a game or two first. He told us to PROMISE HIM that we would order something later, as apparently it’s policy for us to purchase something ? Nowhere was this listed on their website. He told us his colleague would come see us for a game. We waited 5 minutes, no one showed up. We had to get the game ourselves and figure out the rules. 45 minutes later, the game guy finally came to our table. Please note that at this point, we had ordered something. The game guy only came to our table once we ordered food, and took his time getting there (although the place was far from being full).
Also, the games were falling apart and missing pieces.
Finally, we got up to leave and paid the bill. The waiter from the beginning showed us a tip jar for his colleague who explained the games and told us that tips are encouraged. My boyfriend and I felt pressured to leave a tip. I paid the entrance fees and didn’t tip, and my boyfriend tipped 15% on the food.
Please don’t come here if you want to play games and chill. Come here and expect to be basically forced to buy their overpriced food and be pressured by waiters to tip them.

A dining experience that’s both delicious and entertaining: Le Colonel Moutarde offers a delightful blend of comfort food, creative cocktails, and an extensive collection of over 500 board games. The restaurant’s pizza menu features a variety of creative options: Classic, Indian and Ratatouille Pizzas 🍕🤤

I can't say the food was great; it was acceptable enough that the rest of the experience could still be rated five stars. The service was gracious and thoughtful. The cocktails were a delight. And the games...the games are why you're here, right? A wide selection of board and card games, and for a minimal fee you can play whichever ones you like. There's even a Game Master to help you find a game you want or to help you learn a new one.
What a blast!

Great place, huge variety of games. It was strange when we were presented with a tip jar for the person explaining the game, don't they get the same tip as the rest of the waiting staff? Otherwise good experience

I don’t like posting bad reviews especially for independent spots but there are other places way more deserving of your business in my opinion. Game masters and bartender was nice that’s what gives it 2 stars instead of 1. Vibes are bad. The management and wait staff was rude. The games are nothing special, they don’t have many popular modern board games. The lighting is dim and drab. I ordered food and my friend ordered a drink and we both paid the fee to play games. After like an hour and a half they told me I need to buy something else if I wanted to play another game because it’s how they stay in business. If you're going to force people to buy more food to stay for the games they already paid for why not just increase the cover and not have to worry about it? For a better experience go to Randolph’s for better drinks and service and upbeat vibes or go to café Yvonne for a cozy chill spot. Both are nearby this place and a way better time based on my experience
So many games to choose from. They also have a game master to teach you how to play!! Spent a great time with friends.
I wish there were more food options to choose from.

Super good service!! The employees are super nice and know the games really well and they will offer you new games as much as you want! You lose track of time and you can spend the whole evening there, that's exactly what I like about a bar

It turned out to be a pub quiz night when we entered, the quiz host was very welcoming and helped us catch up to speed! Nice draft selection as well.

Board game cafe. It is such a great vibe. I passed by this place several times and always wondered what it was. The ambiance is really nice. Sorry of like a upscale lounge/ speakeasy vibe. You pay CAD$8.50 and play games. Beers and food here are a bit pricey. I posted the Feneral Tso's Tofu Balls and a bone beer which cost me over CAD$20. They have a large selection of games, but you must wait for the server to bring the game to you. They also explain the rules so you can try new games.
Also, it can get quite loud on a popular night.

Best place to play with a group. The game sommeliers are ultra cool, the spicy cocktails keep me coming back for more, and the brussels sprouts caesar salad is very original and filling.
