I’m sorry I do not understand the hype :( the inside was cute but the steak frite was horrible. Very chewy weird steak. Overly salty butter. Bone marrow had no flavour. The best part was the free bread on the table.

Portions are tiny and the food was not tasty at all

Deceiving after having high expectations from reading the reviews online. Probably one of the worst food experiences we had in Montreal, and the worst fries for sure. Steak was okay but nothing special. Small portion and hidden with a lot of bland-tasting fries. Salmon tartar very small portion and nothing special either. Dessert île Flottante was not tasty at all - tastes of egg whites only! First time ever not finishing a dessert in a restaurant!! Even with 6 people for one dessert!
This place needs some urgent changes.

Very good French food at not-astronomical prices. Making a reservation ahead of time is probably advisable.

Great bistro environment. Good by the glass wine options. Food was hit and miss. My quiche had a soggy crust which is shameful. As if it was microwaved. And another diner had skin on their sauce like it had sat a lifetime under the heat lamps. Last person enjoyed their meal.

One of the best Canard Confit in Montreal. Make sure to reserve your seat.

I had a really lovely experience at L’Express in Montreal. The food was very good — classic, comforting French dishes that feel heartwarming and done with care. The soup was especially amazing, rich and full of flavor.

Our waiter was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain everything in English, which made the whole experience even better. The service was warm and attentive.

Tile floors, a long bar, mirrored walls, dim lighting — diners say it feels like stepping into a real neighborhood bistro in Paris. The ambiance is cozy, lively, and timeless. We walked in with no resy, got seated at 10:30 PM. Still it was very vibey. There’s a large wine list with options at various price points. Food was authentic, comforting and very french. We tried appetizers and dessert (profiteroles) - best profiteroles of my life.

Great food, atmosphere, and service! You get pickles and mustard with everything, which was fun. Favorites were the beef tongue and ravioli!

A lovely restaurant with great French atmosphere. The meal was great from bread to creme brulee. In particular, the octopus was cooked perfectly and was tender; the duck confit was paired beautifully with a nice fragrant sauce; the caramelized sugar on the creme brulee complemented the custard. Service was right on time and kind.

Really good experience. We went here for our fige year anniversary and had a lovely time. The waitstaff were helpful guiding my choices due to my gluten allergy. Happy to report no sickness or cross contamination. The salmon was great and we split a creme brulee. I recommend getting a reservation here if you're coming to the city.
