We went for diner with 2 friends from Newfounland. The food was very good, drinks, too. We had also an incredible waitress who gave us great advices on what to order and she was very nice. Unfortunately we also one waiter who was very rude to us and this significantly impacted our overall experience. We felt not welcomed.

We decided to try L'Express after hearing many positive reviews, and the dining experience was great.
The interior gave me a classic Parisian bistro feel, just like stepping into an old French film set. Staffs were friendly. The large jar of house pickles brought to your table was such a fun and memorable touch that adds to the classic French bistro atmosphere.
Food was great, we really enjoyed everything. Celery remoulade was refreshing. I also highly recommend the Boudin noix aux pommes, it was rich and flavorful. My boyfriend even stepped out of his comfort zone to try this blood sausage dish, and he ended up enjoying it as well.
Definitely will come back to explore more of the menu next time in Montreal.

Best steak frites in Montreal. Went for Valentine’s Day one year and it was so busy but everything was super smooth.

Everything is all very well done, very Quebecois, very tasty. Live it up and order a bottle of wine with your lunch. Merci a tous.

Best duck confit and Ile flottante I’ve ever had. We shared a salad and herring as appetizers. My husband loved the lamb shank. He also raved about the apricot brandy. This was our second time dining here in 1 week.

Good bistro food and great wine list. Duck was OK, soup was fantastic. My companion liked his boudin.
Service is both friendly and professional.
It got very loud as the place filled up: noise bounces on the mirrored walls, it is difficult to have a conversation at a normal volume. And the lights are very bright. I don't remember these issues being a problem for my many visits over the years - maybe I get less tolerant with time.

Ordered the steak frites and it was very very good. They serve pickles with mustard at the table and those were also very good. Interior looks nice and service was very attentive. Signage is minimum, you don’t know you’re there until you’re basically at the door. Prices were also very reasonable considering the quality.

The food is incredible!! I started with a vegetable soup and every piece of vegetables were cut to the same size. I then had the steak and frites. The fries were perfect!! The ambiance was something of the 1930’s/40’s New York. Staff was incredible and they have unlimited little pickles.
