Asked for the snoothie with waffle - were told s’discontinued and chef would not accommodate us - asked for extra strawberries on a child portion which had to be authorized by chef - we nearly left - new waitress said it would be an extra - very disapounted as this was our go to breakfast place
We had a wonderful breakfast experience at L’Œufrier (Mile End). The menu offered an impressive variety, with something for everyone to enjoy. The staff were incredibly kind and professional, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. The atmosphere was calm, cheerful, bright, and spotless—perfect for starting the day on a positive note. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a vibrant and satisfying breakfast spot!
Charged my friend and I $5 each for truffle salt on our potatoes which we did not order and refused to remove it from the bill (we hadn’t seen anything in the menu and assumed they just prepared their potatoes with truffle salt).
In the same course, gave my other friend, a vegetarian, bacon on the side (without her asking) because the ‘head chef was feeling nice’. If this hadn’t been brought up, I assume there would have been an extra charge.
I’m not sure if these are purely screw-ups from the server, but moreso I fully believe these were intentional, skuzzy upsells. Will not be returning.
Overall, our experience at this restaurant was nice, but we were very disappointed with the menu and the supposed gluten-free options. The menu claimed to offer gluten-free dishes, but in reality, there were none. When we mentioned that one of us was celiac, the owner refused to serve our friend, seemingly due to a lack of understanding of what celiac disease actually is.
From what we gathered, the restaurant’s so-called gluten-free options were not truly gluten-free, as they used the same grill and toaster for all meals. This made the experience quite unpleasant. What was even more frustrating was that the owner didn’t communicate this himself but instead had the server deliver the bad news. This put her in an uncomfortable position, which was completely understandable.
That being said, the service itself was excellent. Our server was kind, accommodating, and did everything she could to make us feel comfortable. She was genuinely sorry about the situation and even decided not to charge our friend for the smoothie bowl she ordered. While this was a very kind gesture on her part, it’s disappointing that the owner didn’t take responsibility for the misunderstanding and cover the cost himself.
What made this even worse was that our friend had called the restaurant a day prior to confirm that gluten-free options were available, and they assured her there were. Unfortunately, this turned out to be false, which led to a frustrating and disappointing experience.
Would we return? Definitely not. While the service was great, the lack of transparency about their gluten-free options and the way the situation was handled by the owner left a bad impression. If you have dietary restrictions, especially celiac disease, I would strongly advise caution before dining here.
Great breakfast spot! Kid friendly
We went to eat in this restaurant on 11/10/24 in the early afternoon. The food was very good, and special mention to our waitress who gave us excellent service. We will come back, for sure!

Very nice server, and good concept
Unfortunately it was not up to expectations. They need to improve in lot of ways. I am sure the owner is a good but he have to improve something inside.

Very disappointed with our experience. The Oreo frozen smoothie we ordered was very liquid, just like a chocolate milkshake (see photo- milkshakes are supposed to be smooth and thick, not have liquid separation like you see in the photo!!!) We mentioned it to a waitress who noticed that our drink seemed watery with just foam on top, so she went to check with the kitchen. She came back to say that she was sorry that we didn't like the smoothie, but that they told her that's how it is. It's $9 plus TX and tip for the "frappé" so it comes to $12!!!! Not worth it for something that tastes like Oreo chocolate milk + shot of espresso. Too bad for us. Then, the scrambled eggs were not cooked enough in my opinion, I found them really too wet. The potatoes were good. The bread is super good. My fruit bowl was good except for one moldy green grape. The staff is ok. We had to wait 15 minutes before we were offered a coffee. We won't come back

The poutine was good and came with a huge portion, but you definitely have to like eggs to enjoy anything here!

I had heard a lot but the place was very disappointing. The potatoes (french fries) and bacon was almost burnt and overfried/ overdone. There was just one egg. The food was very disappointing and expensive.
I will never go here again.
