There weren’t a lot of choices comparing to the other Zhang Liang malatangs, but overall I had a good meal! When we went into the restaurant, nobody served us. We found a table and sat down. We got ourselves cups and water, and you don’t really need any help from the server except when you are paying. The place is old, not with the best environment but at least the food was tasty.

To start this mess of what im going to say HERE IS MY CREDENTIALS, ive been there twice to give it a second chance . FIRST OF ALL the garlic is soapy ….? Excuse me what. SECOND OF ALL me and my boyfriend had the taste of soap in our mouths after trying the sesame oil or idk what it was buy it tasted like dawn dish soap like the whole make your sauce bar is NOT FRESH and talking about NOT FRESH well the whole wall of food is may i repeat myself NOT FRESH, when i tell you my toilet was not happy to see me .ALSO TELL ME WHY I PAID 34$ FOR A SMALL BOWL THEY DONT SHOW YOU THE WEIGHT SO I THINK THEY MAKE THE PROCES HIGHER at soup zen its the same concept and weight system and a bigger bowl cost me 14.61$ .The place is nice, the staff are nice and the soup was good i must admit like the soup base. Also the area near the cashier smells like uhh sewers? Our like moist or something like that its disgusting. My credentials are also that i have emetophobia and i analyze the food and the place to make sure its safe and now let me show you proof.

What just entered my system. If I could give zero stars i would. I was walking in china town with my friend and we got hungry, we stumbled upon this restaurant so we went in. First glimpse I got of this restaurant was horrendous. The smell was terrible, in hindsight, I probably should not have ate there, but my friend wanted to try it. I don’t know how I built up the courage to eat that, Even the cups they gave to serve water smelled so bad. I vomited. There is a big shelf of options what to put in your Noodles , it was terrible, and at the beginning there’s a cold soggy fried egg that they just left sitting there, it was the cherry on top for the smell of the shop. Until now my stomach is still not good. I payed $40 and barely ate four bites, than I proceeded to vomit. I hope no one else goes through the same struggle i did.
Their original malatang soup base always hits the spot when I'm craving that sweat, salty, and spicy combo!

Came here during my trip because my friend really missed malatang and insisted we try it.
Honestly, the ingredients didn’t feel super fresh — there was a bit of a fishy smell near the self-serve area. That said, the final bowl tasted okay, and my friend was satisfied, which made the visit worth it in its own way.

S- [must try / 一定要吃到]
• this is a famous choose-your-own ingredient hot pot branch, now open in the heart of Montreal Chinatown
• cute and comfy interior with huggable plushies (although you need to walk up 2 story stairs to work out your legs)
• very delicious spicy beef bone broth!!!
• ayce green onion and cilantro (wide sauce selections - I recommend using satay + soy sauce)
• lots of meat and veggie selections
TLDR: must come to get your mala-tang cravings. very worth and delicious for the price!

Pros and cons.
Pros: it's a really fun concept. Love the wide selection of ingredients you get to pick from to create your own bowl and dipping sauce. The bowl is also huge and you can choose from different soup bases. The seating is also nice and comfortable.
Cons: the price by weight. I really don't think we can justify it. Yes, you get a lot in the bowl and you'll feel very full afterwards. However the avg bowl is going to be around $45 so get ready to spend. We even saw other ppl being shocked by the price and returning some ingredients. Honestly it's the most expensive soup I've ever had. Personally for the price you can just go to AYCE. I think if they're charging an AYCE price, they should at least make it AYCE style. Also there was no music in the background. It was very quiet and it made us feel even more strange about the amount we spent on a soup bowl.
We were very excited to try this place and I wish I could have wrote something more positive. If they consider changing their price we would be more interested in going back.

Pretty decent bowl of mala soup.
I think the owner is a Lady GaGa fan, "Always remember us this way" on loop for my entire meal.
Seemless transition.

Nice casual hotpot place with lots of options, very efficient system, but it wasn't always clear what the foods were as the labels were worn out, and for people not familiar with the ingredients it was a bit of a random draw. Kid-friendly, but be careful with those super hot linquids slushing around - bibs recommended (for adults too;))
Wheelchair accessibility: No accessible for wheelchairs as it is on the second floor and no elevator in the bldg

I got off work at 22:30. I came at 21:30 and they didn't let me in... If you can't drive it, just don't drive it. Please, please don't ruin the domestic brand overseas.
