Wow... we're do I start . Service was probably the worst part... the lady in the kitchen obviously should have stayed home or maybe she should retire because she was so rude and even smacked her lips when we spoke back to her about the negative attitude she was feeding us. The food was terrible, the beef was chewy and hard and had no flavor. Rice was greasy.
My son who is 9 was trying on hats in the store while we waited for our food was given attitude every time he asked to try a different hat on... a kid ? Really
Being in the industry myself this is just sad honestly. We open a store or restaurant because we love to serve the people and make them happy . This was a terrible representation of that . If I could give a 0* I would have . Never going back there . And this was not my firt time. Years ago it was better..

I visited Meli-Melo recently and left deeply disappointed, not just by the poor service but by the serious food safety concerns I witnessed during my meal.
Let me start with the service. When I handed my ticket to the staff member at the counter, I was met with a disrespectful “Hello?” — twice — delivered with clear attitude. She then turned away and began openly complaining about me to her colleague, within earshot. It was an uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience from the start.
But what truly shocked me — and what every customer should be aware of — was the mouse running around inside the restaurant. This is a major food safety violation and a serious health hazard. Rodents in a restaurant environment can carry bacteria, parasites, and diseases that contaminate food, surfaces, and utensils. Seeing this made me genuinely concerned about the cleanliness of the entire operation and whether the kitchen itself is properly maintained.
As for the food, it didn’t redeem the experience. The griot was dry, lacking flavor or moisture, and the plantains were also dry and overcooked, tasting like they had been sitting out too long.
I don’t leave reviews like this lightly, but what I saw goes beyond a bad day or poor service. Allowing rodents in a restaurant is dangerous and completely unacceptable. I strongly urge the owners to take immediate corrective action before someone gets sick.
Until then, I cannot recommend this place to anyone — for the sake of both quality and safety.

One of the best Haitian restaurant in Montreal . The griot , rice, and mostly the Akras are always on top ! I am not a fan of the plantains. I feel like they can be crispier. But other than that it’s a very very very good restaurant/ market .
